They always say, "Love what you have before life teaches you to love what you lost". But what if you lose what you love before you have it? That's what I felt as I watched a bullet go through the skull of the man I felt attracted to. It all started a couple of days ago..
"¡Hola estudiantes!" The teacher shouted across the room as the bell rung. The teens continued to laugh and talk. Skylar took out a pen and paper and passed it to Spencer. He turned around, flipping his dark hair towards her. She looked at his magenta Pearl Jam shirt and smirked. They had been flirting this way all week, and it was only a matter of time before they got together. She watched him smile as he read her note. She always loved his smile. She began to beam as the teacher called out her name.
"Skylar?"
"Yes?"
Her teacher walked towards her and whispered in her ear.
"You can sit next to him, if you like."
Her Spanish teacher had always been her favorite, compassionate and understanding. Skylar got up and sat next to Spencer, whispering as he passed her the note.
You look fine as fuck today.- Spencer
She laughed quietly and wrote back.
Almost as hot as you.
She passed back the note and listened to the teacher.
"Aburrido means..?"
"A burrito!" Kyra, her best friend, yelled out, laughing. She always loved Kyra's style. Today she wore Nirvana shirt, obviously. She had recently dyed her hair blonde, her cerulean eyes shone like the sea as she spoke each word, and her smile lit up the whole room.
"A vegetarian burrito!" Kyra smiled as she gave Kayla, a girl next to her a high five.
"Nice one." Brianna, their other friend whispered to her.
Skylar laughed as she watched Spencer's head slowly started to go down onto the table.
'Must be falling asleep again. He does this all the time.' Skylar thought.
"Skylar! Pay attention!" The teacher yelled, snapping her out of her trance. After 7 horrible minutes of lecturing, she felt uncomfortable as a cold liquid draped around her arm. She looked down, gasping in horror at the blood flowing across the table. She grabbed Spencer, dark red gushing from his head onto her white shirt, and screamed.
As soon as she screamed, the room went to shit. Bullets flew across the room hitting person by person. She shrunk to the ground, holding Spencer in her arms, crying as she watched people all around her fall down. She listened to Andrew, the boy behind her, scream as bullet after bullet pierced his body. Blood from his body splattered onto the floor by her feet as he fell. She quickly glided across the floor as Andrew's head fell onto Spencer's leg. She monitored the sounds around her to find if anyone was alive.
"Kayla...Everything's going to be..okay." Kyra reassured her, holding back tears. Skylar crawled over to Kyra.
"Kyra? You're alive." Skylar whispered as the bullets finally stopped.
"Yeah. But I don't think anyone else is." Kyra sighed back, looking around at the dead bodies surrounding them. Kyra cupped Kayla's head in her hands.
"Everything is going to be okay." Kyra smiled at her. Kayla couldn't smile back with the blood drizzling out of her mouth, but Kyra knew she would've in different circumstances. Kayla slowly closed her eyes, and Skylar and Kyra stood up.
"Spencer...He's-" Skylar hugged Kyra, tears falling down her cheeks.
"I know." Kyra gasped as she saw someone stand up. They recognized her immediately, with her blonde hair and her pink clothes. She pulled out her Rose Gold iPhone right away to check for wifi, not realizing the serial killer had cut the power.
"Brianna?! You're okay?" Kyra ran and hugged her, as Skylar began to smile.
"So is Matt." Matt stood up, barley controlling his legs. He was shaking looking around him, and the blood of his friends covered his arms.
"And me." Delta, a quiet, pretty girl rose up and joined them. A couple more people began to stand up, as they saw that the rest were dead bodies from the assassination. A blonde girl wearing a white dress spotted in blood walked up to them. Her name was Hannah, and she was one of Skylar's friends from way back.
"We need to get out of here." Hannah yelled, body slamming the door, which had been locked.
"Hannah, even your sporty skills won't help here." Brianna smiled.
"Guys..." Carlos, a recent class transfer, said with a weary voice.
They all turned to the dry erase board, where Spencer had been propped up and stabbed to the wall next to it. Skylar gagged as she watched the blood trickle down into a pool on the floor beneath him.
"When was someone here?" Delta asked, as the blood reached her feet.
"I don't know....but I think we're alive for a reason." Kyra muttered, pointing to the Dry erase board.
Written from the blood dripping from Spencer's head, was the number seven. They slowly counted eachother as sheets of metal drove through the windows blocking them from the outside.
"This is messed up." Matt cried. They all turned to the side of the room, where a voice began to speak. Nobody was in the room, but they could still hear a man talk.
"You're the lucky seven. Though where you're going, you'd wish you were dead. Like all your other fucking friends." A haunting voice echoed through the room, as Skylar caught the glimpse of a messed up face in the door's window.
"Prepare for hell." The voice boomed.
"For soon there will be six."
