"Daniel! Wake up!" My mom screams from the downstairs kitchen, ripping me from my slumber.
"I already am up!" I yell back down. I put my head back on my pillow. My dreams are getting more intense now, more lifelike. I felt like I really was running. It's not like normal dreams, no. I remember almost every detail and I can seem to relive them if I wanted to.
I wake up in a cold sweat. It's always the same dream, me running on the bridge and cars flying by me. I even remember the smell of the sea. It really is strange.
I sit up and get ready for school. I brush my teeth and wash my face and get dressed. I run down to the kitchen and eat my cereal.
"Daniel! Don't eat so fast!" Mum scorns me."Sorry. I only have six minutes until the bus is at the bus stop. I have to eat fast."
She gave me a tsk tsk. "Your stomach will hurt."
"Ok mom." I say and roll my eyes but she doesn't see me.
Put my bowl of cereal in the sink and rinsed it out. "Are you working today?" She asked me. I just began my job in a cafe on the other side by the school.
"Yea. But not long, just 3 to 5." I say as my mom wipes off the counter. I grab my stuff and kiss my mum on the cheek. "See you after work." I walk out the door and down the stairs to walk to the bus stop. The walk is short, but it is refreshing. I readjust my backpack strap and begin to walk faster. I get to the corner and stand with a few of my peers.
The bus slowly comes to a halt and I walk up the steps. The seat in the back is open, hallelujah. I sit in the seat and pull out my phone, as with my earbuds, and turn on my music. "Happy Little Pill" by Troye Sivan comes on and the sound seems to flood through me. I doze off and lean my head on the window. It is still cool, and it feels nice, except for the sudden bumps and what not that bangs my head against it.
The bus goes in he front of the school and drops us off. I am the last one to get off. It doesn't bother me much. I walk through the doors. I was still looking down at my phone I guess because I walked right into someone. I look into a dude about my size with black hair and blue eyes. "Sorry." I say.
"It's alright." He says and walks off. I walk to my locker and do my combination. I take my bag off my shoulder and put it on the hook and pull things out. I put my homework on the shelf and then grab what I need for my next class.
"Daniel!" I hear someone shout from down the hall.
"Finally!" I laugh.
"Sorry! My mum was pissed I winged my eyeliner." Sawyer says. She is wearing a black sweater with pastel pink jeans and black converse. Her blonde hair is in a curly ponytail and she has a choker on.Sawyer is my best friend. We've been friends since we were seven. She stole my black crayon when we were five and gave it back to me when we were seven and have been basically inseparable since then. She is an artist and a musician, plays clarinet in band.
She ruffles my hair and laughs. "What's wrong, pretty boy?"
"Oh, nothing. Just Mondays I guess." I shrug.
"Same." She agrees. She looks at me with big, blue eyes and sighs. Then I realize she's not looking at me, but someone behind me. Her eyes then follow whoever it is."Parker?" I ask.
"Yea." She kicks a bottom locker. She shrugs. "Oh well. You always want what you can't have." She says. A smile creeps on her lips."What are you doing tonight, Howell? I was thinking of a movie night."
I forgot to tell you, we live one floor apart from each other in the flats.
"What movie?" I ask.
"Dirty Dancing?" She asks. She is obsessed with American movies."We watched that a few days ago." I say as I shut my locker and begin to walk. "Next suggestion." I request.
"Pretty In Pink?" She asks.
"I guess." I smile. She grabs my arm.
"Cool! I'll be there around nine." She says and walks off. "See you later, Daniel."
