Ashley's POV
My mouth can't seem to shut close. My mind keeps thinking, how did he get my number? and why is he texting me? I mean, I know I owe him an apology, it was me who threw myself at his car anyway. But the whole thing was weird.
I decided to ignore him, I didn't send him a text back. I locked my phone and turned back to watching the movie that everyone around me was so into.
Ten minutes later I get another text.
"Who's it?" Melissa asks.
"Nobody" I answer. I find it tiring to explain the whole thing so I just decide against it. Another time I'll tell her, just not now. Lazy, I know.
I take a glimpse at Nash and find him looking at my phone suspiciously, but he then brushes it off and goes back to watching the movie.
I unlock my phone and read "I just wanted to apologize, I wasn't focusing on the road and it was too late when I stopped the car. Hope you can forgive me, I went to the hospital right after they took you there, and I asked the receptionist to let me in to check on you but she said your room was pretty much occupied."
I find that incredibly nice. It was my fault in the first place, but he was way too nice to think that. Feeling guilty I sent him "Hey, you don't have to apologize, I'm the one who's sorry, it was all my fault. I'm sorry if I caused you or your car any harm, I was drunk and I didn't know what I was doing. Thank you so much for checking on me, it's so sweet of you really."
A minute later he replies back with "No really, I think it's completely my fault, I want to drive you to and from school until you get better as an apology, only if you don't mind."
I find that flattering but weird, I do recognize him from school, he was a tall, dark-haired guy, with light blue eyes. I had him with me in a few classes, never got to chat with him , but we did have a few group-projects together back in freshman year. We were never real friends though, just acquaintances maybe.
So I send him "That is so sweet of you, but I think I already have this covered."
Right away he sends "I insist. This will help me feel less guilty. Please?"
I find myself smiling at that, he was so sweet I couldn't believe he was being serious.
"Fine, but you'll have to watch over the road more, don't want me visiting the hospital twice in the same week, do you?" I reply teasing him.
"No Ma'am, I don't wont that. I'll pick you tomorrow at 7:30, good enough?"
"Yepp, See you tomorrow morning. Thank you by the way!"
"Don't mention it. Goodnight ;)"
"Goodnight :)" I send back.
"What's up with the creepy smile?" Nash says.
"What? What smile?" I ask confusedly.
"You've been smiling for almost half an hour now, I don't know how your lips don't hurt you"
What? Was I smiling? Weird. I think I was so drifted away with texting Leo that I didn't notice anything going on around me.
"Who are you texting?" Nash asks.
"Nobody." I say.
"Well, that nobody sure entertained you more than the movie did." Melissa replies.
"Just drop it Mel." I say
"Best friends don't drop subjects, especially if they make you uncomfortable, so spill"
Knowing Melissa wouldn't stop wining until I spill my guts, I decide to briefly tell her about Leo's texts."Okay so that guy who was driving the car that hit me, was wishing me to get well soon and was apologizing. See, that's all."
"Who is he?" Nash asks with annoyance evident in his eyes.
"He's called Leo Wilson, a senior in our grade at school. He's really sweet." I say
"Ohhh I remember seeing him at the hospital right after we got you there, he seemed worried." Melissa says.
"He should've been, he would have ended in Jail if something worse happened to her" Nash retorts.
"Hey! We all know it was fault, I was the one who showed up on the road out of nowhere, I was the one drunk, the guy has nothing to do with this. He's actually so sweet." I defend Leo.
"Mel, the doctor talked to you about my condition yeah?" I ask.
"Yeah"
"When will I get full recovery he said?"
"About two weeks I guess"
Two weeks of Poor Leo driving me to and back from school, I really pity him, he didn't have to do that. I would've got Mel or Nash to drive me everyday to school, only if he didn't insist.
"Leo is driving me to and from school everyday for the next two weeks." I inform both Melissa and Nash. It's funny how the rest of my friends were so into the movie that they didn't notice me, Mel and Nash talking. And the funnier part that the movie was a Disney movie. But what can I say? My friends and I will never grow old and that's a fact.
"He doesn't have to, I'll do that" Nash says.
"I told him so but he insisted, so I didn't really have a choice."
"If he every annoys you just give me a call okay? I'll hit him so hard he'll barely recognize himself in the mirror" Melissa says.
"Good thing we're best friends, I won't get to test you strength" I joke.
"See, our friendship has some perks after all." she jokes back.
I look at Nash and I see him dozed off with his own thoughts. He looks somehow confused, but when is he not? I don't think I'll ever understand how Nash's brain function.
I turn to face the TV screen and watch what's remaining of the movie for the rest of the night.
