As I walked back to my hotel room, I saw that I missed a call from Jess. I checked the voicemail as I walked into the hotel and into the elevator. His voice sounded sad and I couldn't help but wonder if that was due to his birth-mother not being as great as she could be or if everything that had started up again with him and I was about to hit the fan.
Maybe even a bit of both.

I called him back with no response as I pondered the potential outcomes of the next few months. April, Luke's daughter, was coming to stay with me in my apartment in NYC before the wedding. April had finally decided that she wanted to pursue going to medical school after she had narrowed it down from her never ending list of aspirations. April is brilliant. If she wanted to, I have full faith in her becoming a doctor as well as an archeologist, astronomer, or anything she set her mind to. April and I had become close once Luke and my mom got back together. I finally got to experience having an equal match when it came to debates on politics or education. When we first started getting closer, as well as when April got older, we would argue for hours. My half sister, Gigi, and I only talk about her school or whenever she visits France for the summers to visit her mom. Gigi and my conversations never had the same spark that April and mine has. Although, as Gigi gets older, I expect this to change. Gigi was already at Saunders, the middle school version of Chilton. She was already granted acceptance into Chilton years before hand through recommendations I had sent to my former headmaster. Gigi plans on skipping a grade or two.

I continued to think about my future step sister and my half-sister in awe of how quickly I went from being an only child to having two siblings and one on the way.

The phone begun to ring and I held my breath as I saw who the caller was.
