P.O.V Mr. Anderson
I ran home as fast as I possibly could. A smug smile placed on my lips as I got out of the woods. My legs were working greatly with me. Taking me closer and closer to my house as I skimmed the porch steps, just to dart inside.
"I have to clean this glass up." I sighed, but first. Music. I thought. So I put on just that. One of my favorites 'Your Heart Is As Black As Night' by Melody Gardot. As the trumpets began I started to snap my fingers. Slowly and mysteriously approaching the cabinet keeping in swing with the music. As soon as I got close enough I knelt down beside the wooden form as I lifted it up by the corner. Pressing it back up against the wall, moving my way to the glass. Picking up the pieces of it carefully, a bit upset that this is what I decided to destroy. I had this from when my mom was still alive. All of this was hers. Yet, now it's all as good as gone.
"Oh well." I spoke as I dropped the glass into the trash bag. The song now changing to F Me Pumps by Amy Winehouse. Don't judge. She's an acquired taste.
*knock knock*
As I heard this I couldn't help but mutter a small, "Shit." The statue was still downstairs with blood covering the front of the material. If this is the cops they can't see that. I thought as quickly as I possibly could. Moving what's left of the china cabinet in front of the basement door. Thankfully the gaudy thing covered the rim of the door. 'All good' I thought as I quickly cleaned up the sandwich crumbs on the floor still laying there from way before things went bad.
*Knock Knock*
I heard once more. This time it was a bit more pushy, for a lack of better words. You could hear a ring clack against the door as he hit the solid matter. Shit. I thought.
"Oh, I'm on my way. I'm sorry for the delay my music is just so loud. I didn't hear you the first time around." I shouted ironically over my music playing. I walked to the door, grabbing a book from a shelf I had set up on the outside of the kitchen, and tossing it opened to a random page onto the couch to make it look like was simply reading the day away. I ran to the door. But I stalled I fixed my wind gushed hair and straightened out my button up shirt. Opening the door with an innocent smile. Only to be fronted with three police officers. One named officer Freddy, the second officer Renzel and the other officer Atler.
"Good evening sir." Atler spoke, in a very strong voice if I may add.
"That it is. How may I help you?" I asked of course playing dumb to the fact I have a girl in a hole in the woods.
"Well, a little girl went missing today. Uh, fifteen years old. Long brown hair, I guess it hits her mid back. Today she was wearing a flower crop top with jeans. Hmm, she's about 5'4 in height and weighs about one hundred twenty pounds. Her mom reported her missing at four. It's now six. Her mother Jodie said she cuts through your yard in the morning." He spoke somewhat sternly trying to find a flaw in my facial structure as he spoke. I gave no weakness as he confronted me.
"Oh. No I actually saw her cut through my yard. To be honest she was walking with teenage boy." I said tilting my head slightly as I spoke. Seeming to be concerned as I answered him.
"Of course she was... You mind if we check your house?" Officer Freddy asked me politely.
"Oh of course come in officers." I opened the door a bit wider to let them in. They nodded slightly as they began to walk into my house.
"Don't mind the small mess. I was blaring music and reading a book." I gave a soft smile as I led them through my house. Letting them opening doors as they pleased. I wasn't too thrilled how they checked up and down in every room. All Renzel did was fallow the other two around. He must be a newbie. Doubting my story I knew they somewhat believed my story. They have to. Otherwise they would have been questioning me a lot more. The search lasted about ten minutes. Ten long minutes.
"Well. Thanks I suppose. We'll be back eventually." Atler said as smugly as he possibly could. They made their way to the door. Letting themselves out. How rude.
"Whatever." I spoke to myself. I couldn't wait they left. Every moment I was away from Zara was painful.
P.O.V Zara
I laid in this disgusting trench as I listened to the birds chirped. He'll be back tomorrow.. No I won't be here. No. I turned to the metal pole as I bit my fingernails off. One by one only leaving jagged bits of nail sticking off the skin. I smiled as I dig my way into the dirt around the pole. As I dug I yanked on the pole trying to listen it from the damp soil, my fingers digging as far as they could into the dirt. Only to pull up the soil and weeds cupped in my hand to throw it to the side. By the time I was done my fingers were sore and the soil to the left of me has piled up. One more yank and the pole was free. I removed the chain connected weakly now to the pole. Holding the chain tightly as I stood from the rugged ground. Pudding the stick and leaf bundle away. Leaving me standing in the dim sunlight. A small smile on my face as I pulled myself out of the hole.
"Oh god." I mutter. I have to fallow the trail to his house. That's the only way out of here. Well the only way I know. So I slowly began walking, my feet crunching dead pieces of Mother Nature as I did so. I did my best to keep behind the trees to keep me out of his sight if he decided to come back. I dropped the chain behind me. Dragging it along by my neck. Carrying it was a bit much for me right now. I close my eyes tightly as I got into view of his house. My eyes flooding with tears as I stopped in my tracks. I couldn't see right with the tears running down my cheeks. It was heart wrenching to even think this is happening to me. The chain began to become heavy on my neck with every step I took towards his house. That's when the worst happened. He busted out of the back door and began walking towards the woods. But. But he said tomorrow. Not today he wasn't supposed to come get me today. I panicked screaming out as loud as I could.
"HELP ME!!!! SOMEONE PLEASE HE'S CRAZY!!!" I screamed, wobbling as I began to run ypast him. His eyes got dark, his posture as perfect as can be, fists clenched, as soon as he let out a sigh he began running at me.
"Zara, you better hope I don't catch you!!!!" He screamed at me. Quite harshly if I do say so myself. I continued to run as fast as I could. I could see it now. Getting off his property. Going to the neighbors house. And getting away from this weirdo. I began to breathe heavily as my foot touched the pavement of the road. I smiled as I went to step on my other foot to turn. But as soon as I did he grabbed the end of the chain, yanking it backwards. Damnit. My feet slip out from underneath me and I face plant. My hands now scratched, forehead now bleeding. He just laughed. I held tears back as I felt and saw a red stream moving down my face between my eye and nose. I couldn't help but get angry. I was no longer on the road I was in his yard again. Yet, as he was pulling me I gripped at the earth. My fingers digging into the grass. Making the chain stall. HE. DROPPED. IT.
"Get away from me!!" I spoke as I lifted the chain from the ground holding it in my hand ready to swing and hit him with it.
"Zara stop!" He demanded. Being in the situation I'm in I disregarded anything he said so I continued to go with my hard face. I continued to go on with what I was doing.
I stood tall, stalling as a drop of blood fell from my chin, before saying, "Take one more step near me and I swear I will hurt you." I warned greatly. And he did exactly what I told him not to do. I took a step forward and stung the metal as hard as I possibly could. Closing my eyes right before it collided with his head.
