I could feel that Mathieu standing at the edge of the woods, until I had come inside. This was insane I had just spent several hours in the company of a giant male wolf! I know it sounds crazy, but there was something about him that made me want to know him better. I stepped into the kitchen, and immediately my mother came out to me.

"Sweetheart, finally you are home, where have you been? You had a good time at the party? Was there any cute guys? "

She asked, as she pulled me into a hug. I laughed happily, this was my mother in a nutshell, she behaving as a teenager, and would always know everything. And I loved her exactly as she was. But before I got the answer, Benjamin came into the kitchen and said with a smile.

"I hope you didn’t had too much fun, and that there weren’t too many nice boys. You are my little girl and I more than anything want to keep you to myself, so I know you're safe. "

He smiled fondly before he gave me a huge hug. I noticed how he stiffened, and it was as if he sniffed me. Yes I said sniffed! WTF?!. He pulled back and looked down on me.

"Who have you been with?"

I looked questioningly between him and my mother. Confused about the over-protective way he said it. I blush a little while my thoughts went back to when I woke up, and in what condition. I then squinted at my stepfather. There with a deadly voice said.

"Tell me that there is no one who has harmed you, if it’s the case I will kill them."

He sharpened angrily. I gazed at him, of course I knew that Benjamin was protective, I had seen it many times before, but this was different, he seemed really worried. And it was obvious that he actually would injure those who may have hurt me. The thought of Benjamin fighting Matthew, made me for some reason sad, though Matthew had left me after what happened last night, I can’t bear the thought of him wounded. Therefore I smile my brightest smile to my stepfather.

"Well Benjamin, you know very well that I would never let anyone get close enough for them to hurt me, I have learned that lesson from childhood."

I said with a sad tone at the end of the sentence. I Could also see that both my mother and Benjamin get sad by my comment, and I was sorry that I had said it that way, but before I could take it back, Benjamin put a arm around me.

"Yes honey, I know. Your real father destroyed far more than your early childhood, even after he was gone, he still pursued you and your lovely mother. But I promise you, that one day you will meet someone who will love you just as much as I love your mother, and he will get you to open up, so you allow him to get close. You have to learn to trust people again."

He smiled sad, and I smiled up at him with tears in the eyes.

"I'm so glad that my mother found a man like you, and that she was brave enough to let you through. I hope you are right, and that I will be equally brave the day my prince comes. "

I say, and hear my mother giggling in the background before she comes over and lays her arms around both of us.

"I'm so glad I have you as family, I love you both so much."

She says sentimental, and both I and Benjamin roll our eye for fun at her.

The same evening, we all are watching some program about wolves, when Benjamin once again looks at me.

"You never told us why you only got home this afternoon, where did you sleep?"

He asked. I still felt embarrassed about what had happen, and would not want them to know. I therefore pulled  on the shoulders and said.

"I slept at Gavin’s, it was late before we went home from the party, and I wouldn’t wake you, so I got home with Gavin."

My mother nodded in agreement.

"That was sweet darling, Gavin also live closer to where the party was held, and I don’t like that you should go home alone, you never know what might be out in the woods."

I smiled a little, she was so right, she had no idea that out in the woods a gigantic wolf walk around that behaved like a dog, and just would be friends. Or that the giant wolf, for some unexplained reason follows me home, so I didn’t have to go through the forest alone. But I was pretty sure about, that I should keep that information  for myself. I felt Benjamin's glance at me and looked at him. He stared deeply into my eyes, as if he knew that I had spent time with someone, other than Gavin. I shook my head. Of course he didn’t know that, he was just his usual overprotective self. But he broke the silence.

"You have to be careful out in the woods, not everyone you meet is friendly-minded."

I frowned. What on earth, did he knew where and with whom I had spent the morning with? I nodded a little uncertain. But finally decided that it just had to be a normal warning a father gave to his daughter, I therefore smiled at him.

"Yes Benjamin, I'm well aware, and I promise to be careful."
