Cassandra ran. She darted around a corner and dropped to her knees and slid under a table, it's cloth hiding her from her pursuers view.
"He went that way," The dwarf growled pointing in her general direction. The guards nodded and said something and began to scope out the area. Cassie smirked,They think I'm a boy. A boy would not be as smart as I am. She thought. She crawled out from under the table and grabbed an apple. The booth owner would not mind a missing apple she told herself, Just like the noble I took the money from. They both have full bellies, when they are hungry, they eat, when they are cold ,they have a fire and a warm home, if they where lonely, they have a... well they have a family. Cassie brushed those thoughts away and took another bite of the apple. She ran into a hard barrier and fell.
"What the Hell?" Cassie looked up to see another Noble surrounded by gaurds. He had long blonde hair with blue eyes. His beard was also blonde and he had a moustache that was braided and it hung Down on either side of his mouth. He gave a small smile and reached out a hand.
"I apologize, little one, I did not see you."
Cassie ignored the hand and hauled herself up, she was irritated that he called her 'little one' . Dwarves came of age at seventy , but she was only half dwarf, she knew that much. Her other have was Lycan and that was not something she liked to tell people. She remembered the Lycan hunts. She was not in the mood to be hunted again. Still this was an odd situation, she was fifteen and at that age, she had seen everything from Orcs and Wargs, to Wizards and Elves. Never in her life would she have thought a Noble would offer her a hand. So she growled and bit her tongue and turned to walk away.
"Little one? Where is your mother? Surely you can't be here alone? "
Little one , mother, alone ?Ha!
" And if I am alone? " Cassie rolled her eyes.
"Well we could escort you to your mother -"
"That'd be difficult considering I don't know who she is." Cassie lifted an eyebrow at the noble' s shocked expression.
"What about your-"
"Don' know my father either. " She spat as she drew her blonde hair back behind her ear.
The Dwarf held a look of pity and that made Cassie dislike him more. She looked at his fine, blue robes and dark furs. Just being near him made her feel , well made her feel poor. She looked down at her tan, leather vest and once white shirt that was worn with age. Her leggings had mud splattered on them and her boots where raggedy. He held himself regally and Cassie tried to straighten herself inconspicuously.
"There the thief is!"
A shout caused her to jerk her head up. She saw gaurds and the noble She had stolen the money from running towards her.
She cast a worried glance at the blonde dwarf and then shouted a quick goodbye over her shoulder as she ran.
The Dwarf and his gaurds watched her disappear.
"Prince Fili, we should return to the Mountain, it is getting late."
The Prince nodded and couldn't shake the feeling that he had met her somewhere before. In fact he was sure he had met her before. She looked so similar to... NO... it could not be. His cousin and aunt had died long ago. Cassandra and her mother had long since returned to the stone and Mahal's halls. So, this is the first chapter, obviously, . Let me know what you guy thought! Good or bad? Don't worry The Company and Durins will be in the next chapter.
