Sam, Cas and Dean are in the Impala. Sam riding shotgun, Dean, of course, driving the car and Cas squished in the middle because he insisted on being a part of the crew.
Each time Cas accidentally screamed in their ears, trying to talk over the loud Metallica playing, Sam and Dean would both jump, Dean grunting and Sam hitting his head on the roof, which he did at just about any bump. You could see a goose bump rising on Sam's head, and the anger growing on Dean's face. But not real anger, Dean could never really be angry with Cas. The way Cas was clueless of normal personal space, or the fact that he struggles to comprehend human activities, or how he could always comfort Dean in a way that no one else could.
Most of Cas's comments were about the beautiful evergreen trees they passed or the birds in the sky.
"I wonder if the birds get along with the bees?"
"Woah, there, buddy, that's a conversation for when you're older." Dean states with the smile that Cas loves to see.
"Dean, I'm millennia old. And why is that conversation so important? Is there an answer? Who wouldn't like bees though? I'm sure birds like bees."
"Sammy, you wanna take this one or should I?"
"Nope I'm good, this research is really riveting stuff."
"Cas, you really wanna know about the birds and the bees?"
"Didn't I just answer my own question?" Castiel says with the look of confusion that Dean loves about him "Since everyone likes bees, I'm sure birds do as well."
Dean smiled at Cas' naivety and adoration of bees. He glanced back in the rear view mirror to see his beautiful- brilliant, he meant brilliant- angel friend. Yes. A friend. A ~brilliant~ friend.
