Chapter Twenty-Six
Since I told Kelsey about my plans she had been avoiding me and I honestly couldn't figure out why. I mean, what had I said that was so bad? One minute she went from the supportive, loving Kelsey I've always known to some cold person I've never met before. It was weird and I definitely didn't like it.
"Is everything ready?" My mum asked frantically as she went over all the spreads that were on the kitchen counters and table, ready for Jess' party.
"Yes." Claudia replied whilst rolling her eyes which made me smile. Mum had like usual when something like this happened was going crazy. She was running around the house trying to get ready and making all the food and making trips to the local shop, it was like she had taken speed this morning.
I turned my mum around, my hands resting on her shoulders and looked at her, "Mum, go and get ready. Me and Josh will sort the rest out." I told her.
"We will?" Josh suddenly spoke up and I glared at him, telling him to shut the fuck up.
"Yes we will. Go on. Claudia is here as well." She sighed before taking her apron off and giving me a kiss on the cheek.
"I lucked out when I got four beautiful children." She smiled before running out of the kitchen.
I turned around to my two siblings and then looked back at the food, "So, what do we do now?"
Claudia smirked and Josh buried his face in his hands, "She didn't luck out with you." He mumbled under his breath so I grabbed a tea towel and started whipping him with it.
"What was that?" I shouted over his yelps for help which made me laugh even more. "I can't hear you!"
Claudia came forward and snatched the tea towel out of my hands, proceeding to give me the same treatment which made me laugh until Josh got hold of one but just before he could get me back himself, I grabbed hold of Claudia's towel, snatching it out of her hands and then pulled Josh's out of his hands. Poor guy, he never had a chance against me.
I was currently stood in the middle of the kitchen, swinging the tea towels around like I was in Zorro and laughing my ass until Kelsey walked in. However, as soon as she saw me, she mumbled something and went to walk out of the kitchen, but I dropped the towels on the counter and ran out for her.
I grabbed hold of her upper arm and spun her around to face me. "Get off." She spoke through gritted teeth but I kept my hold on her.
"What have I done wrong?" I asked her as I bent my head slightly to look her in the eyes to make sure she doesn't try and lie her way out.
Her eyes darted to the left and then behind me and I turned around a little to see Claudia and Josh looking at us both in shock. Letting out a huff, I dragged her carefully up the stairs and into my room. I didn't want everyone to be listening into our conversation.
She sat down on my bed while I leant back against my door to stop her from making a quick escape. "Please Kels, just tell me what I've done wrong." I begged her. "I don't like it when you're angry with me."
Her face went from one of annoyance to one of anger in a matter on minutes. "You haven't done anything wrong, it's me." She spoke and I couldn't tell if she was lying or not through her anger - something that she didn't project through her voice but then she never was an angry person. So whatever I had done obviously affected her more than she was letting on.
I decided to take a gamble, "Why are you lying to me?" I didn't know if she was lying to me but I needed to find out, it had been driving me crazy all morning.
