Chapter 1
Annabelle's POV
Looking at the bare walls that surround me, I can't help but feel relieved that I'm leaving. All our belongings have already been sent back to California and I can't wait to join them!
I've never liked New York, ever. The city never sleeps, people are always in a rush, nobody stops to appreciate the nature or the beautiful weather. People there are oblivious to the world around them.
So after four years of being stuck in this hell-hole I finally get to go home. I looked at myself one last time in the bathroom mirror. A pair of chocolate brown eyes stared back at me, full of happiness and energy, my cheeks were slightly rosy, a pierced nose and straight white teeth (At least braces are good for something!). My dark brown hair is naturally wavy and is pulled over my left shoulder. I kept the makeup to a minimum and just applied some mascara and lip-balm. I smiled at myself and ran downstairs to meet my mom.
"Hey baby, you ready to leave?", she asked. My mom is a relatively young mother. She got pregnant during her last year of college but somehow she and dad worked it out. She's a very small woman, no more than five foot I'd say and her features are almost identical to mine. Except her eyes are always sad and distant and have been that way ever since dad died five years ago.
"Mom, how can you ask that, I'm more than ready to leave!!"
She laughed and told me to make sure I had my passport and things before we left. So making sure I had our passports and tickets I got myself comfortable in our car.
I'm really going to miss Old Betsy. If you're wondering, yes we named our car, but hey she has chaSaveracter! She's a 1965 blue VW campervan and we've had so much fun camping these last couple of years. She's the only thing I'm going to miss about New York.
Mom hopped in the drivers seat and smiled at me, "You ready to go home?"
"I can't wait mom, I just can't wait", I quietly replied.
