No Superheroes Allowed

Chapter 27

I sat there watching television with Dani leaning on my side.

I was watching to see if Joey is trying to attack my ego again. But no.....it was something about inhumans rampaging New Haven City, using my words.

You can break every bone in my body, but not my spirit. It was spray painted, bannered, even shouted from the roof tops.

"Turns out this rebellious girl, is the new face, all these people" Mayor Dewey said.

"Is that a problem?" The reporter asked.

"She doesn't know it but somewhere in her body is a virus, that's eating her alive" he said.

"As of right now...." He averted his eyes. "Since my son defeated her and she fled, she should feel a unbearable pain in her body.

Tony looked at me. "Her face should turn yellow, and she should have intense diarrhea" Joey chimed in.

Dani scooted away from me and Tony pushed me off the couch. I laughed. "He's obviously lying. Im the one that beat Joey. The normals are afraid of me and they should be" I smiled.

"She will soon die, and that will be the end"

I looked at Chris who narrowed his eyes towards me. "Can I go?" I asked. "I just realized I never punched him in the face...."

"You're not fully healed yet so no...." He said putting me in his lap smiling "Plus you are suspended..."

"Suspended still?" I whined putting my head to his cheek. He nodded and laughed.

"We need to check if you actually do have a virus" Mimi said. "Some viruses are delayed and some come early"

I followed her into her room where she scanned me. "You do have a lower body temperature...." She said

"I wonder why...." I glanced towards Chris.

"And fatigued, since half your fight was in the air" She said. "But no virus, just take care of that low temp" she said.

"Chris will" I said with no hesitation.

"What?" He asked.

"You did this to me you can fix it, I've gotten a cold a number of 5 times" I said walking by him.

"No, you know what we need to do?" He said. "That new power that you have been randomly using"

"Yeah what is that?" Dani walked in.

"What?" I asked.

"You have this force thing. You were able to push Joey really far with out touching him" He said.

"When?" I asked.

"When I got shot in the shoulder" Chris said. I thought for a moment.

"I ran and held Chris. Then I saw Joey coming at me. I told him to stop, and then I told Mimi to take him back here" I said. I don't remember seeing a force.

"But something in between Joey and Mimi, something happened" Chris said.

"We are going to visit Gramps, they have more people. Maybe its only used when she's over whelmed."

I stood fighting off Ben's team.They aren't my friends so they wouldn't know my weak spots. I still didn't know about this force thing that they were mentioning. I was doing well when I was chopped on a bruise. I squeak and punched a hole through it. Its only holograms? But why can they hurt me? I stretched and bounced around.

I saw a horde of them come near me. "This is a little excessive." I yelled. No one responded. I looked towards the window but was immediately hit.

I was hit on the other bruises and I collapsed. I saw the shattered ice shards and water drops fly by me as I was in a dog pile. I squeezed my eyes shut in pain as I heard the metal. I struggled and stood up eventually.

I rolled my shoulders back and forth. "Chris?" I looked around not seeing him. I heard arguing outside the door. I reached for it but was tackled to the wall they all surrounded me. I grunted overwhelmed shutting my eyes.

The robots flew across the wall and broke as they fell to the floor. I braced myself against the glass and huffed

"Is that what they were talking about? Cool......" I mumbled breathing hard. I smiled and laughed.

"Jamie" Tony yelled. I stood there still a bit hysterical. He had a struggle coming near me.

I snapped out of it as he stumbled near me. "They didn't allow us in because if you open it the holograms will escape and trash the house" Tony rolled his eyes. Can someone not control their own power?

"Jay?" Chris came up after Tony. I held my head with my hand.

"Please don't yell. I have a bit of a headache." I said. I sighed loudly.

"What actually happened?"  Tony whispered.

"One of the guys didn't want to turn it off, cause he wanted to test his abilities. It took Lauren and Ben to knock some sense into him." Chris said.

I turned invisible and crawled out the door.

"Jay...." Chris sang walking around. I slowly opened the door but heard a loud creak. I bet the boys did too. I stood up on my two feet. I slipped past the door and into the main room. Every step was just another batch of pain. When my body was on ice, it didn't hurt as much.

I knew where the sewer was and why I can't go up alone. I can't fly straight..... Which sucks because all I do is fly.

"Jay your not invisible anymore" Ben said. I put my finger to my lips and went to open the door. It required force to open it I had to try and attempt my new found powers.

I squinted and pushed back. "Damn you door" I mumbled.
