Matthews P.O.V

I swear there is someone near me. I can feel their eyes beating into my skull like a laser gun.  When I turned around to look no one was there and nothing was out of place. I knew however that I was not alone. I grabbed my knife and started to walk to the entrance of the cave. Suddenly I heard a twig snap. Then the most beautiful creature that I had ever seen came in to my sights

“Hello” The women’s voice ringing out to me.

“Stay back” I yelled holding my knife out in front of me.

She suddenly looked frightened. Of what? Surely if she was here to kill me she would have attacked me already. She was scared of me…but why?

“I mean no harm” Her voice came out as a quiet whisper.

I looked at her. Her beautiful creamy skin and her vibrant purple flames of hair. She did not strike me as a threat and yet my sense was on high alert.

“I was just hanging around… well more like hiding if I am honest. I saw you walk past. I have not seen another human being in this area in weeks. I thought everyone would have been gone by know because of the village” She stopped talking abruptly.

She still looked freighted, yet she had a curious look to her eyes. She wanted to know who I was and where I had come from. Everything I wanted to know about her she, it seemed, wanted to know about me as well.

“What is your name? “ I asked putting my knife in my pocket.

“Are you a member of the guard?” she countered back

“You know when someone asks you a question it is polite to answer them back first” I said jokingly with a small grin on my face. “No, I am not a part of the guard. I would never join them. I seek only to stop their carnage… I am sure you have seen the damage they have done in the village. Maybe you have even heard the screams from the people getting slaughtered by the sadistic beasts that are allowed to roam the land. So to answer your question. No I am not of the guard. Now will you please tell me your name?”

“My name is Zara and before you ask, no I am not a part of the guard either. I actually want the same as you”

“Ah, well it is always nice to meet someone I share a common bond with. I am Matthew by the way…although I prefer Matt.” I said smiling at her.

I reached out my hand to shake hers and she flinched. That is a rather odd reaction to a hand shake. As soon as she had realized that she flinched she gave me a sheepish grimace, and then reached out a shook mine. Man her hands are so tiny and her skin is so creamy looking.

This girl was no ordinary beauty. No she was different almost in an unearthly way. Her beautiful curly locks hung all the way down to her waist. Dark as night and yet bright as a flame when the sun touched it. It was mesmerizing.  It was hard to pull my eyes away from her. A girl like that is not an everyday find and when you do find them… well they are never what they seem but this girl seemed like a warrior and I was pretty sure that in every way she was one.
