It had been a month since Snake had gotten me away from Steven. I was slowly becoming my self again after years of being oppressed. Each day Scott and Snake saw more and more of my old self. Cry and I had picked up our friendship where it had left off, like nothing had changed.

As for me and Snake, I don't know where we stood. I was warming up to him. Over the past week I had stopped jumping whenever he put his arm around me, curled up with me on the couch or in bed. When hugged me, I found myself flinching less and less.

But whenever he tried to kiss me or tried to make things more intimate, I freaked when he got close, feeling like a trapped animal.

"Sophi," Snake called, walking into the house, tossing his jacket onto the back of the dining room chair.

Hearing no response, he walked into the bedroom. Seeing a bump in the bed, he pulled the blanket back.

He chuckled softly. Pulling the headphones out of my ears, he shook me gently.

"Sophi," he repeated.

I opened my eyes slowly. I looked up at him and smiled. Stretching, I reached my hands out to him. He took them and pulled me up into a sitting position.

"Welcome home," I said, cheerfully.

Kissing my forehead, he sat next to me, "I was wondering if you'd like to go get something to eat."

I chewed on my lip, I was unsure. I had been avoiding going out in public I knew that it was a small town and a good chance of Steven being out. But I couldn't expect Snake to stay cooped up with me forever.

I nodded, "Sure. I want to actually talk to you about something."

"Oh? Good or bad?" He asked, curiously reaching over to tuck a piece of hair behind my ear.

I stiffened but relaxed quickly, "I think it's good."

I ran my hand over his chin. He had shaved his beard, now a bit of scruff had grown back. I liked it short and kinda rough.

"I'll get dressed," I said, getting out of the bed.

"So what did you want to talk about?" Snake asked, taking a sip of his beer.

I pulled apart a couple of cheese fries from the appetizer we had ordered.

"Well I was wondering if it would be okay for me to um, live with you."

Snake raised his eyebrows, looking at me over the bottle, "I thought you were."

"Well I assumed I was just a guest," I said, blushing, feeling very embarrassed and on the spot.

"Sophi," he said, placing the drink down and folding his hands, leaning forward looking very serious, "you are not a guest. No one I love is going to be turned away. This is your home."

I smiled at him, "thank you. Another thing, I think I'm going to get a job."

"I thought you weren't comfortable being out."

"Well I don't want to be a burden. I want to contribute."

"Where will you work?" Snake said, leaning back to make room for the waiter to place our food on the table.

"Well I called my aunt and asked if I could work in her restaurant, and she said I could start tomorrow."

Snake smiled, "I think it's a good thing. You shouldn't let this past control you. Whatever you do, I support you."

"Thank you Snake," I said softly, "for everything."

"Ready for work?" Snake asked, coming into the bathroom.
