Karen woke up in a panic that morning; she had another haunting dream. Her dreams were about the same thing; the humans destroying her. She was scared of their power, it disgusted her. She didn't like the fact they think her kind is their property, and make innocent people fight for them as they relax in lawn chairs and bask in the sunlight at a nearby beach. She imagines them all being super rich, clean cut, and have full bellies. She imagines they have humongous, glamorous homes with a fancy automobiles and have land as far as the eye can see. She can see this so vividly because she has visions, past, present, and future. She has seen what grass looks like, what a New Years kiss looks like.... She's even seen her birth mother....

But back to what we were talking about; Karen's dream. She always dreams they will grab her from here and fling her out into space to let her suffocate, while they laugh and drink wine. She's imagined worse, but for a girl who has spent her entire life out in space, she is constantly afraid of getting lost by herself. She got up with all the other Sapphire cadets that were waking up beside her.

She rushed and got her blue uniform on, and went to the mirror and sinks, brushed her teeth, ruffled her short hair, and placed her cap on. She looked at herself for a moment... her features were a little different from the other girls; she has darker skin, light hazel eyes, beautiful lips, dark hair, and she oddly enough has visible freckles. Most of her room mates say she looks like she's from 2050. Most people here has brown or blonde hair, pale skin, brown or blue eyes, and have not a freckle in sight. "Karen quit hogging the mirror." One of the older girls pushed her out of the way, and Karen rolled her eyes, and went to go to breakfast.

She walked in and most of the Emerald's and Jasper's were up, which was good because she will be able to find her brother, Seth. Seth is an Emerald; he can manipulate space elements and metal like most of his peers. But, he's been lacking a tiny bit, he was never as successful as his sister. Karen hated to admit it, but it was true. Seth was special in a more free spirited way. Karen was jealous though of his kind and happy nature, she was always serious and tense. No matter if someone did Seth wrong, he was always kind.

She got in line for breakfast, and someone bumped into her back hard. "Hey- hello!" she screeched and turned around; it was a Jasper boy, about her age of seventeen. "Oh sorry there- hey you're really cute!" the Jasper boy smirked and leaned his forearm on the wall. "The name's Chris, Jasper Specialist. So how about you, Riptide Queen, What's your name?" Chris flirted and Karen huffed in anger. "Yeah right like you're a Specialist! You are way too young and immature!" she crossed her arms. "I am the youngest Jasper on the team!" Chris chuckled as he said that, "Tell me, what is your name?" he leaned in more and Karen felt violated and disgusted. "If I do will you leave me alone?" she huffed and moved forward in the line. Chris quickly followed, "I don't know if I can leave you alone! Fate might have brought us together..... Karen!" he smirked and pointed at her name tag. "Wow did you just fly in from Stupidville? You could've just read my name tag." She sighed, but smirked to herself at her incredible comeback and how still her voice was.

"And if fate brought us together I would have known by now." She said as she grabbed a tray for her meal. "You got future vision or something? Tell me, what happens in the next five seconds?" he asked as he grabbed a tray as well. "You grabbed that tray and bombard me with more questions." She sighed and rolled her eyes.  "How can you be sure? Does it come to you like a voice or do you see it? Like how are you- oh." Chris realized he was bombarding her with questions. "No, it comes like a vision. It's not like it's a still, guiding voice that soothes your fear. It's a sudden, flashing vision that most of the time I can control." She established with him.

"I can also see the past, and the present." She said as she held out her tray for the lunch men to give her the daily serving of Cinnamon Breakfast Meal. "So like you know when you're going to die and stuff? You know what happened in like the Roman times on earth?" Chris asked her. "Yes." She answered and grabbed a glass of Blue Juice, and walked away from Chris. Chris quickly followed her. "Wait so like what happens tomorrow? What did I do yesterday?" Chris was extremely intrigued. Karen was extremely annoyed, "Please quit following me."  She ordered Chris. Karen started walking quicker and Chris started running after her. "Tell me darling!"  Chris said and wrapped his warm hand around her waist and she flinched away from him and turned to him, "You had a normal day except you passed by the Sapphire training room and saw me so you planned all night to find Me." she rolled her eyes at him and Chris could hear part of his heart shatter. "And I am not allowed to speak of the future to commoners." Karen said and started walking off. Chris still followed. "I am not a commoner! I am a Specialist!-" "Do you honestly think that makes you powerful? We are soldiers, and nothing else. The only people I can give information to are the humans of this place. We are nothing, Chris. Realize that now and you won't be so upset when one day the humans find a cure for our "deformity"." Karen interrupted rather harshly, and stormed off.

Chris didn't follow this time, but he yelled; "YOU'RE PRETTY SPECIAL TO ME!" and the whole cafeteria stopped talking and had eyes on them. Karen's heart started to race, and tried to dismiss his act of kindness as a flirtation. "You barely know me." she said calmly in the break of silence. "I want to know you!" Chris said passionately and flirtatiously. Karen rolled her eyes, "Then you have a foolish heart, my friend. You'll never survive on an actual mission." She dismissed him and everyone went a soft "OOHHHHHHH". Chris sighed, and clutched his chest. Chris was a fool for love, which most boys here aren't. They weren't raised with the topic of love, but somehow Chris found that human instinct that separates, well in his mind, what it means to be alive and what it means to be dead. Karen isn't fully oblivious to the idea of it, but she isn't all for it. She, and most people here, views it as a weakness.

Karen searched the entire cafeteria for her brother, and couldn't find him. She sighed, he must have overslept again. She sat alone, ate her meal, and went away. She went to her training quarters, with many other Sapphire soldiers between the age of 11- 20. Karen's peers often told her she would probably graduate soon at her rate, which Karen did not doubt. She went to get her schedule of what she needs to do for today. "Name?" the Schedule Droid asked her. "Karen. Soldier 31415." She stated. The Droid printed out a small piece of paper, and Karen took it and read it;

*Soldier 31415 may head to the Head Overseer's office

Karen had to take a double take, "Are you sure this is right?" she asked and showed the Droid. "Droid's never make mistakes." The Droid answered. Karen tried to hide her excitement, but she let out a few giggles. Karen skipped over to the Head Overseer's office, and slid her paper in the "Request Slot". She waited for him to read it, and then the door opened. "Come in Karen." He said calmly in the dark room. The Head Overseer always had his chair turned around, so no one knows what he looks like. "You called me in sir?" she asked and stood stiff. "Yes, we need you for a certain... assignment. Sit, please." He said and a chair rammed into her and made her sit down. Hover chair, nice. Karen thought. "This assignment is very important, it will affect everyone. It might even effect the universe- life itself." He said surprisingly calm. "I will do anything for the cause of life preservation, sir!" Karen proclaimed as adrenaline set in her mind, and wonder struck her eyes.

"I need you to tell me what happens in the next three days." He said, but with the same passion in his voice. "I'm sorry, what?" she scoffed in disbelief. What could happen in the next three days that's so important? "There have been more and more threats that we thought we have eliminated by a Jasper soldier's persuasion, but it isn't enough. What will happen in the next three days?" he asked her again. She closed her eyes, and concentrated..... She saw- oh no...

She saw explosions, fire, and invasions, and a ruler covered in dark robes plagued her mind. She saw soldiers being beheaded, and children crying. She saw the whole base get obliterated... but she saw her and her brother escaping with a few others, which gave her a peace in her mind.

"The base will be obliterated by a new army, and a man in dark robes." She blatantly told him. "That's what I was afraid of... thank you for your service." He said calmly, with a tinge of sadness in his voice. "Sir, what is our plan, and is there anything else I can do?" she asked and stood up. "Yes... can you.... Make sure my daughter gets to the escape pods when it happens. She's Esther, soldier 77890. She's an Amethyst soldier." He said, sounding like he was almost in tears... "Yes sir. Anything else you want me to do?" she asked him. "You can leave, go relax, you've been promoted to a Specialist!" he said and Karen's heart leaped. "And later tonight come back here for planning, we will need your insight." He answered. "Yes sir." She saluted, and then left.
