So that was pretty much how the next few years went. Mine and Niall's families became very close, and I was easily welcomed into Niall's group of friends. Some of the girls thought I was a bit weird for hanging out with boys all the time, but honestly I liked it that way. I grew up with tons of boy cousins, and I learned that girls could be really judgemental and would push you to be someone other than yourself.

This changed a bit once we got to high school. I had just turned 14. Niall and his friends grew apart a bit, so he didn't really know what to do. Eventually it became where me and his were absolute best friends. I was pretty much the only one he had for a while. People would make fun of us and ask if we were going out ALL the time, when in reality it wasn't even close to true. Sure, he was pretty good looking and all, but I wasn't really attracted to him like that.

It wasn't until about halfway through the 9th grade that some people started to invite us along to do things. It felt good to be part of a big group of friends again.

One Friday after school, one of my best girlfriends, Shelby, came up to me.

"Hey Ally! I'm having a party at my house tonight, my parents are going away for the weekend and only my brothers are home. They said its okay though. You remember where my house is right?" I nodded. "Kay, just come over around 7 or so! Bring Niall!"

She said everything so fast I was a bit stunned. Niall walked up to me.

"What was that all about?" He asked me with a laugh.

We started on our way home. "Shelby's having a party at her house tonight. She said to go over to her house at around 7, and I have to bring youuuuu," I said with a jokingly gross look on my face. Niall pretended to be hurt. We started laughing like maniacs. This is what I loved most about our friendship; we could be ourselves and joke around a lot, but still be serious when we had to.

"Kay so I don't really know where her house is.. You wanna walk together? And I don't know what to wear!" He started freaking out like a girl would.

"Oh, don't you worry hun, I'll be over at 6 to fix you up reeeaall good," I said in a fashionista voice. I turned up onto the walk towards my front door. "I'll see you in a bit," I said with a wave and a smile.

"Bye Ally."

I just sat down for supper at around 5 o'clock. The conversation at the dinner table was pretty dull. In one of the silent moments, I took my chance to finally ask my parents about going to the party.

"So uh, mom," I started, "Shelby'shavingapartytonightandiwantedtoknowificouldgo."

"Wait, say that again? Slower this time?"

"Shelby's having a party tonight and I wanted to know if I could go."

My mother glanced at my father with a hesitant look on her face.

"Niall's going too!" I threw in.

Her face softened and she said, "Oh of course you can go sweetie! Just be home by 11:30 okay?"

"Okay! Thank you so much!" And with that I ran upstairs to phone Niall to clarify that he could go.
