Chapter Eight~
The sun cast down on Faye's face as she cracked open her eyes, rubbing them with the back of her hands. She smacked her lips together a couple of times before sitting up in bed. She stared down at her stomach, it had been about two weeks since her band had supposedly kicked her out and let in the dreaded Tiara. Faye shuddered at the thought of Tiara playing guitar. Rubbing her hands over her slightly transformed stomach and stood up to stretch. Just a small bit of round was coming from her stomach; it wasn't as flat as it used to be. It was like if she has taken in a whole lot of air and blown up her stomach to make a shape, except now that was her actual stomach size.
A knock on the door made Faye snap her head up and she swallowed, "It's open." She turned away from Matt who stepped through the door. She was still pretty peeved that he was also decided to kick her out. Nevertheless he came in and wrapped his arms around her back waist and kissed the side of her neck. She carefully pried away from him, much to her reluctance, and maneuvered around him to her bedroom door. She waved her hand in the air, as signal she wanted Matt out.
"Faye..." His voice was resigned, "why don't we do something today?"
"I don't think so." Faye narrowed her eyes, "So, you can leave now. My room. Out."
"Can't we at least talk about it?" He asked, exasperated.
"Talk about...what?" Faye asked, playing innocence into her voice, "About the fact that my last piece of teenage life has been ripped out from under me? Naw, I don't think we need to discuss that."
"Faye," Matt bowed his head, studying the carpet with his eyes, "I don't..."
"Don't what?" Faye seethed and pointed her finger at the door, "Leave, please."
Matt stepped forward and took Faye's right hand into his, she started to resist and pull away but he flipped her palm over and traced circles onto her hand with his own thumb. She swallowed and looked away as he touched the ring on her finger. Her fingers curled around his and he pulled her slightly closer to him. He bent his head and kissed her earlobe, nibbling on it for a second before pulling back.
"How about I make you something to eat? French toast?"
Faye nodded silently as Matt left the room and closed the door behind him. She walked to her dresser and pulled it open, picking out her clothes for the day. As she got dressed in white and blue striped Bermuda shorts and a matching blue T-shirt, she bit her bottom lip, figuring that maybe, just maybe, she was overreacting. It was just a band after all.
She made her way silently down to the kitchen and pulled her knees to her chest as Hanna came slumping into the room. Her eyes had large and dark circles under them, her skin was pale and her normally perky attitude was nowhere to be found. Faye drew her eyebrows together, debating whether to ask what was up with Hanna these days when Kristi walked into the kitchen too. Kristi was almost like Hanna with the paled skin, except a cigarette hung loosely from her fingers and her eyes were sullen. She looked almost gaunt to Faye and she swallowed, knowing she had to intervene at some point and now was just as good as tomorrow.
