The blonde was named Jake. Quite a stereotypical name for a blonde, but who was I to judge? All the guards said- Jake, Cameron and Lyle- that Alpha Kayle being vaguely nice to anyone was surprising, let alone a rogue.
I shrugged my shoulders and followed them, stopping in front of a small flat just outside of the main complex. Lyle- the more serious one- jerked his head at it, gesturing for me to enter it.
"This is where you will be staying. Since none of the women in our pack are of your height and stature, you will be borrowing Jake's clothes" He murmured. I nodded once then entered the small house, smiling at the simple interior.
It had two rooms, a lounge and a kitchen. White and sparsely furnished it was all I had ever wanted and needed.
I turned back to the men, nodding my head in gratitude. "Tell your Alpha I appreciate his generosity" Cameron and Lyle left, but Jake pulled out a bag he got from God knows where. He shrugged one shoulder, meeting my eyes.
"They might not be the best, but they should do" Jake mumbled, running a hand through his blonde hair. I took the bag and smiled at him, a genuine, small smile. "Thankyou. Your kindness is appreciated. Especially from someone you barely know"
Jake's cheeks went red before he stuttered out a goodbye, practically running away from my doorway.
Strange.
**********
The next day I spent mainly inside, since nothing was to be done about my current situation. I came to think upon my situation and the fact that it was my 19th birthday in 2 days. How time flies when you're on the run.
A knock at the door interrupted my thoughts and I opened it, not expecting Alpha Kayle to be standing there. He turned to me, hair slicked back, looking impeccable as always.
"May I come in?"
I nodded and let him pass. "This is your house anyway"
Kayle grinned crookedly at me before sitting down, his muscular body taking up quite a lot of the couch. His blue eyes seemed to pin me down, analyzing every move I made. I would have felt self conscious, but coming from a long line of Lion shifters, self confidence was something I didn't lack.
Originally, Lion shifters were much more powerful than Werewolves. But then when a few Lion shifters got a taste of the power they wanted, the werewolves rose in greater numbers than the Lions did, overthrowing their superiority.
Now I was the only one left. My family had died after a group of rogues had killed us off one by one, hunting and waiting until we were alone, then descending like a group of vultures onto them. My mother was the first to fall.
I shook my head, clearing the thoughts I had, going back to the cerulean eyes that seemed to be running over my body. I was wearing Jake's tanktop and a pair of his basketball shorts, both fitting rather baggily.
"What are you?" Alpha Kayle then said, getting straight to the point as his face snapped back to mine. I sat down on the chair opposite to him, appreciating the charcoal suit he wore. To be fair, I hadn't seen a male in around a year.
"I don't know what you mean" I denied, crossing my legs. Alpha Kayle raised an eyebrow, sitting back on the sofa.
"Are you sure? Because I can tell you are a shifter, but you aren't a wolf"
I smiled slowly, flicking my emerald eyes to him.
"That's for me to know" I stood again, stretching my arms, "and for you to never find out"
