*Arianna Johnson*
Everything has changed. The man before me looked hopeful as his light green eyes pierced through mine and I couldn’t say no. We’d always talked about it, so why does this talk feel different? My heart had been beating too fast for me to respond with a coherent thought.
“Yes.” I told him, when I could finally catch my breath. The biggest smile came on his face and I started smiling, too. I knew I made him happy, and as long as he made me happy, then I’d make him happy. He swooped my into his arms, kissing everywhere as he spun me around in his living room. Finally, he set me down and stared me in the eyes again.
“Aria, I love you so much. Y’know that?” I smiled, seeing his perfect white teeth smiling back at me. I nodded my head, my light brown wavy hair bouncing with each nod I made. He kissed me on the lips and pushed me down on the couch. Needless to say, this was the first time I was actually out of breath.
I had the perfect boyfriend, perfect job and perfect life. Nothing could change anything. I had everything that I’ve always wanted. Jasper broke apart from me and I smiled at him. He smiled back and kissed me softly and then stood up.
“I’m gonna make some lunch. Do ya want anything?” The cheerfulness in his voice made me giggle.
“The normal, Jas.” I hollered at him as he walked into the kitchen. I sighed, staring at the ceiling and fell back onto the couch. My mind whirled again at the thought of his question. I seriously couldn’t imagine my life without him. I loved him with all of my heart. My eyes scanned the living room of his parents’ house and my mind whirled again. I needed to breathe normal. And so, I took a deep breath in and let it out slow. This is my life now. This is what I want. This is what I need.
