There had been knocks at the door, but Cordelia never knew who it was. True to his word, Loki took care of it. Cordelia wasn't sure what he did, but it went by awfully quietly.

The days passed slowly. Cordelia endured the long days locked up in her room. She refused to face him unless she had to.

While locked up in her room, she thought of every way to escape. Every possible situation ended horribly in her head.

It was then, sitting alone in her room that a thought arose. She wouldn't ever escape. She would never escape the nightmare she was in. She was to endure this... This hell for the rest of her life. Who knows? For eternity for all she knew.

Loki could read her mind. He could infiltrate her thoughts. He had some kind of magical powers. He was an alien.

How could she stay one step ahead of him when he could read her mind? Was there some way for her to stop it? Some way she could stop his mind attacks?

If there were, how would she figure it out?

The base that she "rescued" him from! I bet that's where those Avengers held him captive! The only thing she needed to figure out was how to contact them.

But it seemed she didn't need to contact them. For that same day, as if the heavens heard her cries, loud booms and claps sounded from outside of her house. She scrambled to look out of her bedroom window.

"Loki, come out. We need not start any kind of fight." A loud booming voice bellowed.

Suddenly, Loki burst into her bedroom. He looked a bit startled but quickly covered it up with anger. She could feel it pulsing through him. It was like a heat wave flying towards her.

"You stay in here, you miserable worm. I'll come get you after I deal with this baboon."

And with that, he briskly left the room. She took a huge gulp of air for she had been holding it. She was too scared to even breathe in his presence when he was irritated. He tended to be very hostile when he was like this. She dare not step out of line. But her reckless side wanted nothing more than to disobey him. She wanted out of here and it was the only chance she had.

But how could she? Surely, the minute she walked out, he would kill her. It's not as if he needs her.

You think yourself clever, darling? You think you could escape here with your life? I will kill you if you leave that room.

She could hear faint grunts coming from outside. She assumed it was Loki and the "baboon" fighting. She hoped with all of her being that the baboon would win.

She had never desired anything more than her escape. She wanted it so badly. It was just at her fingertips right now. She could taste the freedom on her tongue and feel it tingle in her body. It was a thing on the highest shelf, just out of reach. And she felt like she would always be just out of reach of it.

She sat in her dimly lit room not quite knowing what to do. There were no windows to observe what was going on outside and if she stepped out of this room, he would surely kill her.

So there she sat quietly in her muddled thoughts for what seemed like hours. The clock ticked and ticked. The sounds of battle still rattling the house. Curses and grunts could also be heard.

At some point, a stillness filled the air. It sounded like a regular day at her cottage but instead of peace, she felt stress build up in her. They were no longer fighting, which means one of them is either unconscious or dead.
