A pounding of soft paws on the leaf ridden ground was what could be heard from all around. Stopping to sniff the air, the smell of a distressed deer wafts towards his nose. He follows the scent, not noticing anything else around him in the huge forest that surrounded him like how the sound of police sirens surround the criminal who had been caught. As quietly as he could possibly go, he snuck off towards the deer. He could not get caught here, despite being top of the food chain in most situations, he had enemies here, and fierce ones, meh could not be caught, no that would be a fatal damage.
Skittering between the tall willowy trees, the pale figure senses an unaware animal. Innocently it munches on the leaves of the trees, which were fallen on the ground, as well as the small shoots of dying grass beneath. The winter months were approaching fast, and most animals were eating anything they could find, many were desperate and dying.
Phil didn't like the idea of all the small, pure animals dying of cold, a slow and horrible death, which overcomes many in this forest, apart from himself, of course. Maybe killing this deer would be doing it a favour. Of course it wouldn't realise it, but it made the killing easier for Phil. That was selfish of him, dying is rarely ever something to be thankful of, it might get worst, but sometimes it gets better. Only sometimes, though.
Dan was getting nearer to his prey. He could taste it on his tongue, and it tasted so good and he hadn't eaten in so long, anything could do for him. Bounding through the thick undergrowth, nearing his prey, he stopped in his tracks, skidding slightly on the leafy ground, spraying up a few autumn leaves. Thankfully he was still far enough to not scare the prey. Quickly and quietly he turned his head, but could not find the source of the new scent.
Then he slowly lifted his head up towards the canopy of leaves. He sees a small shadow, up in the leaves, dashing silently up in the trees, and a flash of stark pale skin which could only belong to one species, the species which ran this forest, the ones who hated him the most. A vampire.
His lips curl back into a snarl, showing his pointed teeth. He wouldn't let one vampire take his prey from him, not this time.
Phil leaped to a closer tree, over looking the poor deer. He knelt down, ready to strike like a viper, upon the deer that did not even know he was there. He felt sad for a moment, he didn't like death, nor killing. He knew it was necessary, but he didn't enjoy it. But he was broke. From thought when he hears a snarl erupts from below him.
It was the snarl of a wolf, but the problem was there are no wolves in this forest. Only the occasional visiting werewolf which cause havoc to everyone, and here he was. It was him, the one who terrorises everyone.m
