My fourth interview is with trishthewriter. She is a talented author and I am lucky to have given the chance to read her amazing books. One thing I love about her books that I've read, is that they are in third person point of view. Most books on Wattpad are in first person so it's nice to have a change and read a story in third person. Her books on Wattpad include The Other Side, The Unholy Trinity IV- The Story Continues, The F Word, Unholy Trinity-Unlocked, It All Started Here, In the beginning, No Matter What, Peanut Butter and Jelly, Dark Times, The Unholy Trinity III: The Final Battle, Sworn Enemies, The Last Year of Innocence, The Unholy Trinity II, A Letter to My Fans, and The Unholy Trinity. Trishthewriter used to have a story called Like You Mean It which was very popular on Wattpad but she took it down because she wanted to publish it. My two favorite books of hers are No Matter What and Like You Mean It. I've read No Matter What at least three times and each time I've cried. That's how good it is. If an author can make you cry because the characters in the book, then you know they are a gifted writer. Like You Mean It is such a great book too. It's also one of my favorites and I can't wait to see it published one day! Trishthewriter is truly an inspiration to me!
Thank you Trish!

What your name?
My name is Trish Edmisten
How old are you?
39. Are you shocked?
Really? Wow. I'm kind of shocked but you've had a lot of writing experience I'm sure. Anyway, the next question is when did you start writing?
I started writing when I was in the fifth grade so that would be around age 10 or 11, but it's been about 8 years now that I've spent even more time with my writing than ever before.
Wow that's a long time! What inspires you to write?
I take inspiration from lots of things. Sometimes it's things going on around me or things that have happened to. It can even be news stories or current events. I don't think writers ever truly shut down. We hear or see something and think "That would make a great story" and then we start writing it.
Did you ever think you would be where you are now?
No, not at all. When I started writing, sites like this didn't exist and there was no such thing as e-books. Now, thanks to the internet and e-readers, writers can reach a bigger audience and do so faster than ever.
Yeah it's amazing that they have all these things now. What genre do you like writing the best?
I think I'm best at young adult. I started out writing contemporary adult romance but found that my character's voices and the conflicts I'd chosen were better suited to that genre.
Do you see writing as a future career?
Honestly? No. I did at one point, but the older I get the further away that feels. That's why I love sites like this. I have an audience that I write for and that makes me happy.
Do you suffer from writer's block? If so, what do you do about it?
Yes, I do all the time. How I handle it depends on how I'm feeling. Sometimes, I just let go and stop writing that story for a while. When I ignore it, then I don't force the story. Some days later I find I can work on it again. Sometimes, I sit down and map out all the things I want to happen in the story. Then I put them in order of when they should happen. That usually gives me a good jump start.
What's your favorite book on wattpad and who's your favorite author on wattpad?
I'd have to say my favorite book is High School Scandal. As to my favorite author, that would be Alex Olsen. Not only does he write in a variety of genres, but he tells stories his way. Alex doesn't let himself get sucked into writing clichés to please the masses. There's also a maturity to his work that I find appealing.
Who's your favorite published author?
When I was a kid, it was Judy Blume. I still love her books and the fact that she took risks in literature at a time when that wasn't the normal. Now, I'm hooked on Erin Nicholas. She's an amazing storyteller with characters you feel like you know.
Yeah I know what you mean. Which one of your stories is your favorite?
I'd have to say Like You Mean It. When I wrote it, I wanted to have a romantic lead that wasn't perfect. I wanted to challenge standards of beauty and give teens characters they could really identify with. I think that story accomplished that. It remains a fan favorite. I get messages daily asking me where fans can find it to read it again.
If you could get one of your stories published which one would it be?
I'd have to say that's also Like You Mean It. I wrote the first draft of that story in 2005. It's been through a lot of ups and downs since then, but I've always believed in it. It's always had a special place in my heart, and I think the followers here agree. Ever since I took it down from the site, I get messages at least once a week asking me what happened to it and where it can be found to be read again.
I've read Like You Mean It and I've fallen in love with it as well. Do you have any tips for other writers who want to be popular?
Yes, for writers who want to gain a following on Wattpad, there are 2 things you definitely have to do. The first is write a good story that you're proud of. The second is to spend some connecting with other authors here. Offer to read each other's works. My fan base started with me spending hours doing a read for a read, and it grew from there. Every time I log on and see new followers, I'm always humbled to find that many people interested in my work.
How would people describe you?
That depends on the people you ask. I guess the most common thread between the different groups of people I know would be that I'm funny and smart and someone they can count on.
Ok here's the last question: Anything else you would like to share with your fans?
Yes, actually. First, thank you for all of you who have accepted and embraced my work. Without Wattpad, I wouldn't even have a fan base, but I'm always humbled when people compliment my work. I also want to assure everyone Like You Mean It will be released as a free e-book so you can read it again so stay tuned for that.
Thanks for the interview!
Thanks for this interview. It's been fun
