Sighing as she stared out the window, trying to focus on the music

blaring through her headphones instead of on the forest that was surrounding her now.

She would have enjoyed the change of scenery if, of course none of it had been forced onto her.

They had been there for little over a week and she still didn't feel comfortable here, especially when every one she had met had acted like she had grown two heads.

"So school starts next week. maybe you should meet some people your own age?"

Rolling her eyes at her mother's attempt at connecting with her she sighed.

"I'll try."

Clarke replied just as they pulled into the driveway.

All in all Clarke could have cared less about making friends, especially after what had happened the last times he had gotten close to someone.

"at least try to meet the neighbors. They seem friendly enough." Abbey stated, though the words fell on deaf ears as Clarke got out of the car.

"I thought you said that she's outgrown the eye rolling." she mumbled as she followed her daughter.

"If it makes you feel any better I'm at least going outside!" Clarke called into the kitchen a few minutes later,  iPod in hand.

"okay, but if you decide to go into the woods stick to the paths." Abbey replied,  unsure if Clarke had even heard her since the front door slammed only a second later.

"I hope Markus was right about moving here." the woman sighed, burying her face in her hands.

Looking around the large yard Clarke tried to decide rather or not to head into the forest. However before she even had time to decide a voice called out from across the street, causing her to whirl around to face the direction of the speaker.

"Hey new girl, Finally come out of hibernation?"

She doesn't look like either of the people Mom described.

the girl in question had tan skin and dark hair, which was pulled back into a braid.

"The name's Clarke." She retorted, watching as the girl jumped over the balcony and landed on her feet.

"Octavia."

Clarke nodded at this as the girl came closer, close enough for Clarke to see the hint of a tattoo peeking from behind her collar.

What's the point of having body art if you can't see it?

"We're just about to head out for a bonfire to night, Wanna come with?"

Octavia asked just as a blonde came out, carrying a box.

"I see you have meet the energizer bunny. Don't let her fool you, we're not all crazy."

The first thing that Clarke notice was that this woman had a leather jacket on despite it being a warm day.

"Don't listen to Anya. We're all crazy." Octavia chuckled before adding "I invited new girl here to our cookout."

"Fine with me. As long as it's not Baloney breath."

Anya retorted, earning a eye roll from Octavia.

"Baloney breath?" Clarke asked, arching an brow at the pair.

"My older brother Bellamy," Octavia explained "Anya doesn't like him."

Anya snorted at this

"O, you don't like him most of the time yourself."

"hey, I can choose my own friends. Bellamy can go float himself."

Octavia retorted, confusing Clarke even more.

"Don't ask, try having a ten year old tell you to go fuck yourself."

Anya snickered as she finished packing the back of the truck.

"Octavia! Drag your lazy ass up here and help me haul this shit down the stairs!"

"Shit...okay! Coming!"

After Octavia vanished inside the house Anya turned to Clarke.

"Sorry, didn't catch your name. I'm Anya, if you haven't fingered that out yet." she stated, folding her arms across her chest.

"I'm Clark Griffin."

Anya's eyes narrowed slightly, as if to size her up though she let out a small snort.

"So you're Abbey's kid.I met your mother the other day." she stated just as the door opened

"Lexa said she'll meet us. She's bringing Adren and Tris."Octavia called

"Ah, so that's were she vanished to." Anya retorted then turned back to Clarke.

"So, You wanna come? Literally only guy there's gonna be ten." Octavia asked.

"Why not, it's not like I anything better to do." Clarke replied with a shrug.
