I push my bags into the small trunk. I've almost got it but the last bag is trying to be a trouble maker. All I need is to be able to close the trunk. I don't think that's too much to ask for.
"Here let me help you." Corey, my cousin says coming around the back. He uses his big quarterback muscles to shove the bag the rest of the way in.
I reach up an close the trunk. "Thanks, Corey."
"No problem. Is that it."
"Yup, I think so."
"Alright then lets hit the road."
We both get into the car. Corey gets into the drivers seat while I slide into the passenger seat. He starts up the car and soon we're on our way.
"Thanks again for driving me." I say.
"No problem. Momma wanted to be the one to take you but her flight got delayed."
"Yeah I told her she didn't have to worry about it. We're going to have to do this at least three more times before I graduate."
I can hardly believe that this is happening. I'm going off to college. Today will be my first official introduction into dorm life. I can't wait to see who my roommate was. Normally they tell us who the roommates are before hand but they were having problems with their website. I hope she's nice. It would be great if we could be friends.
"Are you nervous?" Corey asked.
"A little." I answer truthfully.
"Don't worry. Your the smartest girl I know. College is going to be easy for you."
I don't know about that but I really wanted to do well. Auntie Carla put so much money and time into me and my education. I didn't want to disappoint her. I need to do well so that I could find a nice job and return the favor.
Corey pulls onto the free way and for the next hour and a half I watch the trees pass by. I smile when I see the welcome to Callahan University sign. My eyes stare in wonder at my new school. The old building look like something out of a fantasy novel.
Corey pulls up outside of my new dorm. A peppy looking girl in a purple polo walks over to our car. I step out of the car.
"Hello and welcome to Callahan. I take it your one of our new residents." The girl say with a bright smile.
"Yup." I answer.
"Great were happy to have you here. If you want you can go right in and check in at the front desk. I'll help your brother unpack your stuff."
"Thanks."
I don't bother trying to correct her. Everyone says Corey and I look like twins but his just my first cousin.
I walk into the building. There are signs posted everywhere telling people to go. I marvel at my surroundings. It looks like I'm inside a castle. I feel a slow smile spread across my face. I'm definitely going to like it here.
While I'm busy looking around someone bumps into me from behind sending me flying forward. A arm wraps around me pulling me back before my face can meet the ground. I'm pulled back against a solid form.
"Sorry about that." A deep voice says behind me.The arm unwraps around me. I turn around to see a blond haired boy standing behind me.
"No, it's all good. Thanks for catching me." I say with a smile.
