"Don't forget your lunch!"
I heard from the others side of the room. I was 11, it was my first day of school. Just moved from the south of Italy to end up in London. I didn't really care because I didn't have really good friends there anyway. Always laughing at me for no reason, I was bullied maybe that's the reason we moved. At first I was scared to come to London, I've been laughed at so many times that I'm used to it now.
I thought to myself that I might be the youngest in class, which I wasn't  that excited about.
Talking Present
I just finished packing my coloring sketchbook and I'm ready to go. I always bring my coloring sketchbook with me, everything that interests me I draw it. I study it, the shade, the shape and the position. It's a bit like photographers, when they see something that captures their interest they take a photo and post it on social media for everybody to see. I just study objects or people, but I don't share it it's just for my own pleasure. I don't want anyone to judge me. I guess I'm scared of that.

"You're going to be late" she shouts, but it is for me to hear.
I'm running down the stairs that cracked at every step. The bus is going to come in any second. I'm hearing it just down the road. I kiss both of them on the cheek and I was ready to catch the bus.
"Have fun" I hear the echo as I was walking towards the school bus.
They are both smiling at me, I feel proud.
One of them is holding a camera, their favourite she brings it everywhere. She loves it.
"Goodbye Mom." I look at her.
Then I look next to her,
"Bye, Diana".

I climb the stairs of the bus and try to find a place to sit or someone to talk to. I notice this boy sitting by himself, he has his hair shoulder length and looks really good with it. I sit next to him.
"Hi, new girl?"
"Hi, nice to meet you"
"I'm Riley" he replies with confidence.
But I'm not sure if I should tell him my name
"I'm *****".
He has this weird expression on his face as if he doesn't understand what I just told him. I don't trust many people but I felt bad not telling him.  Thankfully, the bus stops and the awkward moment finishes, it was time to enter school. It is really big from the outside, At this point I'm  both excited and scared at the same time. I don't  know anybody apart from Riley whom I've just met on the bus. He seems quite nice, so I thought I'd stay with him for the day until I meet someone else. He still seems interested in meeting me and he looks quite nice. We both enter school and it isn't as big as I thought it was. It is quite small and the furniture seems squashed together.

However, the corridors are quite large. The bell rang, and it is finally time to go to tutor class. I of course sit next to Riley, who's happy we are sitting together. I feel a connection between us. Like brothers. Like as if he knew. He waved his hand to a couple of friends and I'm surprised he still sat next to me even if he has friends. This is a start of a new friendship.

His friends then come up to us.
"Already having a girlfriend the first day of school?"
"Shut up, I met her on the bus" he looked at me with a smile. "This is ******"
"Hi" I was quite embarrassed my cheeks probably looked like little cherries.
"I'm Adrian, the blond one is Mike but we call him Mickey. And the one that looks like a nerd is Christian"
They all start laughing, but I guess it's just a friendly joke. Even Christian starts laughing, so I guess it's fine with him too.
Adrian has a fuck boy haircut and does look pervert. Yeah, his first impression to me wasn't that appealing. Other than that he does dress up with leather jackets and cool jeans. He is the 'bad boy' in the school.
Mike, oh sorry, Mickey has blonde hair. He is definitely influenced by Adrian, you can see the way he dresses up doesn't suit him. Christian is the 'nerd' of the group. Glasses. Braces. Emo hair. Stereotypical.
They sit not that far away from us.

                                                                                               ********************

I open the door. The engine roaring  was now far away from where I was.
"How was school sweetheart?"
Her voice just warms me up. She is the thing that I care most about in the world.
"Well, I met this guy called Riley. Such a nice guy, he showed me around. We had French, not bad but so much homework for being the first day! English, I love it the teacher is so nice. Technology, they call it DT here. So strange! Science, I hate it. The teacher does not explain correctly, I didn't understand anything. Lastly, we had Art. It's my new favourite place. I could stay there for forever! I talked to the teacher about my sketches and if I could take some extra classes or something like that. But yeah I love this school, so much better than the other one. I  also met some of Riley's friends and today we hanged out all together. They're so funny."
"I'm so happy, finally you can have fun without worrying about-"
"Mom, can we please not talk about it? That's the past, I just want to let that horrible moments go. I will never forgive them for what they did to me"
"Can you just tell me if they know?"
"No, they don't know I have lesbian moms. I want to make sure I can trust them"
It's 18:46 she's going to come any minutes. She is the reason I hate coming home after school, she is the reason of everything that's been happening.
The bell rang. Great I was thinking there she is. I hear them kiss on the cheek, she comes up the stairs. She opens the door.
"Why don't you never come downstairs to say hi? I'm sick of this ok?"
I just ignore her.
