I slowly opened my eyes and blinked a few times. I was re adjusting to the warm light that was streaming into my window and bouncing off the walls.Everything had a warm glow to it and the bright purple walls of my bedroom only made it better. I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and slowly raised out of bed, hesitantly but I managed.
In only a tank top and some sleep shorts I slowly walked across my room. The hardwood floors cold to the touch on my bare feet. It was only a few steps from my bed to the ageasent mirror but due to how tired I was it seemed like miles of dragging my feet.
I groggily glanced at myself looking the same as I always do, I quickly forced my long black hair into a high pony tail and combed my side bangs so they would stay out of the way.
I took a deep breath and remember where I was and who I was. I was Samantha or Sam, I don't have friends that call me Sam on the count that I don't really have any but that's not a problem! I like in an amazing house in the underground.
A monster, that what I was, but down here the term meant much different then it did to humans. Monsters are kind and sweet, well at least the ones I've met.
I don't really go out very much, I only really go to the library in snowdin, a small town just to the west of me, and the small super market just outside the core and that was to the south, past hotlands.
I liked being alone it was all I ever really knew after my parents had died. My father was a monster, he was reptilian with cat blood due to his mother being a feline. He was amazing! Huge wings and horns that were deep red in color to match his soul, he had a huge grimace that was lined with sharp teeth and to finish it off he had talons coming from his nail beds. He had scales scattered on what parts of his body were not reptile like and he had a deep booming voice... Had. He was gone now.
So was my mother. The reason I've always had to keep to myself is because my mother wasn't a monster, she was a human. Apparently she fell during a human celebration called "Halloween" and she was dressed up as a monster and that was how she was able to sneak past the guards. She had jet black hair and the most amazing green eyes, she was short and skinny but that was all cut short when she was taken away. I was born and then the news began to spread that she was human and five years later once the Royal guard finally heard and got conformation they took her for her soul. And that was it. My father tried to go after her and save her but he failed. They killed him for being a traitor and I was left all alone at the young age of five to do everything myself. I had to get small jobs around waterfall to pay for food and I lived in my parents house until the burden of keeps up such a large house took a toll and I moved to the house I am in now.
Recalling the these memories brought tears to my sparkling green eyes, I took another look in the mirror and opened the wigs that grew from my back, bat like wings covered in black scales made the light bounce around the room, they were smaller then the ones my father had but the were just big enough to carry me around so I was happy. Small horns peaked up from my hair as well as cat like ears, my nose was small and button like with a black patch on the front much like a house cat.
I glanced at my watery eyes and the cat shaped pupils glanced back at me. My forehead glowing due to the few purple scales that poked threw. I smiled and a sharp tooth filled grin shot back and stuck my tongue out at myself as my forked and rough tongue shot forward, I couldn't help but giggle. I glanced down at my hands and saw my own reflection in my long sharp nails.
I placed my hand on my neck to rub out a knot but instead my hand grazed over my gills, I apparently this had been passed down, the water breathing and my tail that was like a lizard tail but had a fin at the end was from my great great grandmother who was part fish on my father's mother's side or something like that, I'm not really sure anymore I was very little when it was all explained to me.
I took one last look at myself in the mirror and my eyes were drawn to the scar the ran right over my left eye. I couldn't remember how when or where I acquired it all I knew was it filled me with grief when I looked at it as if my mind knew something I didn't.

I took a deep breath and tried to calm down after looking so deep into the past, it's not like myself to be so emotional, what a way to start a day. I couldn't help but think that there was something going to go either totally wrong or completely right. All I knew was I needed a fresh start to the day.I sighed as I thought about what to do when an amazing idea crossed my mind.
"Why don't I just go to the library!" I couldn't help but say excitedly. My deep voice rang in my ears, it was at least deep for a female in my opinion but it's part of me I guess I just can't change.
I got dressed quickly reaching into the dresser next to the door that was across from my bed and window. I grabbed a black t-shirt and a ragged purple skirt, I tossed on a pair of fishnet stockings and my favored collar with a purple heart charm on it.
I walked out of my room and to the front door. I grabbed my tall black boots that were decorated with buckles and my best black leather jacket smiling I opened the air lock.
My house at the time that I bought it was very cheep, and being only ten years old, the cheeper I could get it the better, the only down side to the house and the reason it was so so cheep is because it was underwater, in waterfall there is black paths the float on top of the bioluminescent water well if you go left on every path and then come to a dead end and jump you'll find my house.
I looked out the port hole at the small animals. I could see the few frogs siting on the path as many types of fish swam by in schools.
I smiled up at how peaceful it all was, the balance of life that took place I couldn't help but start to grin. Purple magic surrounded my hands and I conjured up an attempt at casting something I hadn't tried in a long time. Being parts of different animals and part human my power became the ability to control and manipulate biological matter, that being anything that was alive but not a monster, the little creatures that apparently originated from the human world, it didn't work on other monsters due to the fact that they were composed of magic not bio material.
With that I sent all the fish away from my line of sight I didn't want to hurt any of them from what I was going to do next, I closed my eyes and focused all my power into a fraction of a second of action, but I still managed to do it, I moved both my hands and the watched the water that was blocking my way to the surface split apart leaving a clean path to the paths, I could have swam it but I didn't want to get my lovely outfit wet.
I opened the last door and stepped out into the ocean floor, the amazing smell of salty water hit my nose sending me into true bliss, my cheeks seemed to warm at the tranquility and I opened my wings and flew to the path.
Both feet landing flat as the floating path tilted slightly under my weight. I walked to the west making my way threw the maze of paths so that I could make my way to snowdin.

Making my way to the exit of waterfall and into the town of snowdin, as I left the caves that separated the two towns a gust of cold wind chilled my spine, a few falling snow flakes melted into my jacket as I continued to walk up to my favored place to be.
I entered the library as the warm air inside began to thaw me, there were only two people inside both were at the only table working on solving a cross word puzzle, I smiled as I entered and went to the shelves of books that lined the back walls. I walked to the fantasy section and pulled out the first book that seemed of interest, I took a look at the cover and read the tittle, "little red riding hood" a human fairy tale, I'm not sure why but I really did enjoy reading these human story's one of my favorites was alive in wonderland and it told the tale of a girl who fell down a hole and found herself in fantasy realm filled with creatures and monsters. It kind of reminded me of my mother when I read it and instantly took a liking to it.
I took a seat on the floor since the only table was taken, I cracked open the book and began to read the amazing tale of a girl traveling to her grandmothers.
