Lisa stood in the room Chris's mother had showed her to. It looked like the rest of the house. Expensive. Chris had probably used an interior decorator to decorate his house because no man would be able to do such a tasteful job of it. It looked like he favored natural earthy colors for the whole house. Her room was decorated in soft whites and pinks. She wasn't a fan of pink but this looked really good. All the furniture was dark wood and looked antique. There was an en-suite bathroom and a walk-in closet. The room had big windows on two sides. The bed was big and really comfortable.

Lisa walked over to the walk-in and looked at the empty shelves. She dragged her duffel closer and opened it. Lisa shook her head. She packed so quickly and in such a daze that she didn't realize what she was packing. At least she had her school uniform and a dress. She was happy to see a few pairs of underwear but the rest was so mismatched it wasn't even funny. She sank to the floor and cried. She cried because of what happened five weeks ago, she cried because she was pregnant and for her brother who she didn't get to say goodbye to.

Chris found her there on the floor. He felt her pain and couldn't just leave her to struggle through this by herself. "I know it doesn't look like it at the moment but in a few months or so you will be happy and all of this will be in the past."

"You don't know anything. I am pregnant and I don't know who the father is. My mother kicked me out and I have nothing here. My life is ruined and all because some guy and his friends wanted to have some fun. I didn't ask for this. I didn't even ask to be ..." 'To be here with this guy' was what she wanted to say. She was scared and she didn't really trust him.

Chris held her as she cried and all he could do was to be patient with her situation. Soon she would understand. "I could go out and get you what you might need or you could come with me. If you would feel more comfortable I could ask my mother to take you shopping."

"I don't have money." She didn't look at him.

"I didn't ask for your money. I have more than enough of my own." He needed her to need him.

"I can't expect you to buy me stuff."

"I don't mind and if I did I wouldn't have offered. You need things and I have the money to buy it for you." He would give her the world if she needed it.

"I don't want to be a charity case." Lisa stood up and went into the bathroom to wash her face.

"Someday I might be the one who would need your help." He walked out of her room but stopped when he got to the door. "Who do you want to take you, me or my mother?"

"Would your mother mind?"

"No, she would love to go shopping with you. She never had any daughters to go shopping with and she offered in any way. How soon would you be ready to go?"

"I am ready now. Thanks."

"I will let her know."

Chris fell asleep on the couch a few minutes after his mother and Lisa left. Even his couch was more comfortable than what he had been used to these last four or so weeks. His sleep was peaceful and when he woke two hours later he felt like his old self again. The difference a good breakfast and a comfortable sleep could make. It was astonishing. He texted his mom to find out how things were going and she just send him a smiley face and a thumps up back.

Chris had so much to catch up on at home and he decided to get to it. He went for a walk through his garden and checked his pool to make sure that everything was good there. He loved the outdoors just like everyone else of his kind. He inspected the garden and made notes of things he wanted the garden service to do when they came in on Monday. He did the same with the house inside and made notes to pass on to the housekeeping service. People tend to slack on the jobs when there was no one there to check on it.
