Katia leaned back on her hands, her feet dangling in the water. Her mind blank, memories wiped clean as if there was no soul buried within the coffee-coloured sixteen year old. She glanced down at the ocean, admiring the sight of an eight year old girl that she once knew. Of course that girl had grown into a skilful teenager. That girl was none other than Katia herself. It was the only moment in her life that Katia remembered when she was eight. A picture remained in her head, a large dark room which seemed like a lounge. a grand piano was placed in the centre of the room with a diamond chandelier hanging from the ceiling above. A chaise long lay to the left of the piano with a glass coffee table in front. Paintings hung on every wall including a replica of Leonardo De Vinci's Mona Lisa.
Katia didn't have a care in the world, not even that the rock she was sitting on was scorching, burning the back of her thighs. Today was a day unlike any other, instead of showers and a cold breeze, today the sun beamed heat down on Katia, the moisture in the air running down against her cheeks. The atmosphere felt airless.
Katia stood herself up and strolled back towards her nest. Katia was very fortunate with the location of her nest. She could see the whole island which wasn't very hard from the top of any tree. Her nest was made out of the longest leaves from the palm trees bordering the port of the island. Katia's pet monkey hadn't returned so Katia guessed that he was hunting bananas. Muko had arrived at Katia's nest on the night of the shipwreck which Katia was parted from her parents. The was no other island surrounding the island which Katia was on so she guessed that her parents died in the storm for they weren't good swimmers and Katia was the only human on the island.
