I watched as the cold rain washed over everything,

The dark clouds carrying irreversible pain.

I held the caged bird within cold hands,

I cradled within my heart- the warmth of his plans.

I watched as the water blurred the window,

The room overtaken by a lonely, devoid shadow.

The bird struggled against the empty walls,

His cage captivating his every broken call.

He fought his fate with every last breath,

Until his lungs were empty- nothing left.

I watched the body tremble and fall,

His throat echoing one final call.

I begged as my heart shattered in pain,

I cried in hopes that I could somehow make him stay.

Finally, I embraced the blame,

I had forgotten that life is more than just a game.

His soul had already flown away,

As he left me staring at the window- alone in the rain.
