Chapter 10

"Mommy!"

They all turned and the three Avengers saw the Queen's eyes and face fill with joy. Evangeline crouched down and held out her arms. In seconds a small boy, about the age of four, barreled into her arms.

The trio, especially Steve, was shocked at the fact that the woman (who was in fact a murderer) in front of them had a son. When Evangeline finally let go of him, the boy turned his attention to him.

The boy was a spitting image of his mother, red hair and small freckles lining his nose and parts of his cheeks. The only difference between the two was that the boy had a pair of bright, sky blue eyes, when Evangeline had a deep, forest green. Evangeline took one look at their faces and laughed.

"Ladies, and Gentleman, may I introduce you to my son, Malakai, or Kai for short."

Wanda was the first to recover as she stepped forward to introduce herself and the others to Malakai. "My name is..."

She was cut off by the boy speaking, "Wanda, Natasha, and Steve."

They all looked at him shocked, while Evangeline was looking at him with pride. "You have been practicing!" She exclaimed, excitedly.

Malakai nodded vigorously and squirmed, Evangeline put him down and he waved at the four before turning and running off.

"So you have a son?" Steve asked.

"Yes. Glad you got something out of that interaction." She replied.

"Who's the father?" Natasha asked, actually curious.

Evangeline's eyes darkened and she said, "That would be my ex-husband."

"Where is he now?" Steve asked not noticing her change of mood.

"Buried six feet under. Caught him with another woman. I exiled her..."

"Did you kill him?" Steve pushed more. Natasha and Wanda both nudged him not so lightly.

"No he killed himself. Hung himself in the bathroom. Wasn't too upset but it did impact the kingdom."

"Who was the woman," Natasha asked.

"Another girl named Alice." Steve snorted when she said this. She looked at him funny. "What?"

"Nothing." He said quickly.

Her mood became brighter all of a sudden. "Would you look at the time. I need to get you back."

And with that she opened a portal and beckoned them in.
