Michael

I woke up feeling like I'm back in Australia. The smell of waffles emanates through my nose as I arose, looking for the cause of the smell. I scratched my back, feeling nostalgic as ever, and I came face to face with a familiar girl which I have grown to like. Ronnie was cooking intently, flipping the bacon and checking the wall clock for the waffle to be done. I smiled warmly at the sight and made my way to her, wrapping my arms around her torso. She jumped at first but soon relaxed when she realized that it was only me. She giggled as she grabbed the turner and flipped another bacon strip.

I kissed her shoulder lightly, tracing three more kisses before I stopped, "Is it a lovely day?"

I heard her chuckle and sigh, "It is, now."

Somewhere inside the room, my ringtone blasted and ruined my little moment with Ronnie.

"Just a sec," I mumbled to her. She nodded and turned back to the pan. I made my way to my phone, lying still on the coffee table and picked up the call.

Calling: Ashton

I rolled my eyes almost immediately at his name. I snorted and slid the button to answer the call.

"Hey, how's the party last night?" I said in a mocking tone.

"What party?" To be honest, his tone sounded like he didn't really knew what I was talking about.

"C'mon man, we've been friends for ages. Ronnie and I waited the whole night yesterday because if I have remembered, someone promised us a ride home at 9." I complained.

I could pratically see Ashton's eyes widen and place his hand over his mouth. "Ooohhh! That's what I forgot...." he trailed off, "I'd like to say I'm sorry but something tells me you should be thanking me right now. And, oh! By the way, I didn't go to a party."

Ignoring his first comment, I replied, "Well, what did you do?"

"You might not want to talk about the details on phone. You'll never believe who I found on that favorite Chinese restaurant we both love on the 4th." He sounded excited yet probably still bewildered.

"Who?" I bluntly asked.

"Man, I saw Cal there."

Veronica

I called out to Michael as I placed the last waffle on the plate. It amazed me how this room had a waffle maker... Most motels don't even have pans and a coffee maker.

He appeared back in a couple of minutes with a shirt on and a face that seemed to be fazed.

"Are you alright, Michael?" I asked as I took a seat.

"Yeah, it's just..." he trailed off.

"What?"

He sighed deeply, "Have I ever told you about my friend, Calum?"

I nodded, "Yeah, yeah, I think so. He sounds quite familiar."

"Right, so, you see..." he gulped, seemingly taking off the huge lump in his throat that impedes the words to be said. "Well I-uh, I haven't spoke to him for a while now... And it seems like Ash found him on the Chinese restaurant we both love back in the city."

"Oh." was all I could say.

"Yeah. I didn't really know what else happened because Ash insisted we should talk about it with our eyes meeting."

"Well then we should fasten up," I perked up, "I mean, you'd want to see your friend anytime sooner now, right?"

"I-I-I mean, I w-w-would, but... You know," he scratched the nape of his neck, "I haven't seen him in along time and I didn't exactly end things well with him after his departure from us."

I chewed on my bacon strips and took a sip of my morning coffee, "Well, isn't there some sort of man truce with you guys?"

"I hope. Cal's quite the peaceful guy. He's serene but he also have his wild side." He swallowed a piece of the waffle and gulped, "I just hope were good now... Though that'd be quite impossible."

I nodded along and we made small talks. After we've finished breakfast, we showered and picked up our belongings and left, checking out of the building.

When we were on our way to the car, Michael slipped his hand between mine, he pulled my hand and brought me close enough to kiss my temple.

We made it back to the place as we hopped out of the bus. I could tell he was nervous; his hands were shaking and a little moist. We walked up to the door and charged the keys inside the knob, twisting it and opening afterwards.

"Ash? Man, you home?" Michael called out as he placed the keys on the counter, snaking his arms through my shoulders after so. He guided me to the living room and suddenly, he just stood still.

And I have never seen him so startled since the first time I've met him on that coffee shop.
