Prologue.
I raced down the street, hugging the hoodie tighter round me, as the rain pelted against me. I kept my head down, ignoring the stares. Slamming into body after body, I ignored the irate shouts that I left in my wake, while I raced ahead.
Through the hair that plastered my face, I stole a glance upwards. The dimly lit street was crazy busy. I had to get of here, out as far as I could, as fast as I could.
I pelted round the corner to be shoved into the wall. I acted instantly. Planting my feet apart, I whipped my head around, raising my hands in defence, ready to face them. I turned to see a startled older man, clearly not aware of what he'd just did. I didn't pause, and rushed away, hastening up my pace.
Knowing they wouldn't be far from me, I carried on pushing my way through the tightly packed narrow street-path. Ahead of me, a familiar light caught my eye - I sped up my pace. I was actually going to make it.
