“At least there's one thing good about your body. It isn't as ugly as your face!” Nancy said bitterly which felt like a stab to my heart.

“Well…uh…I like you. People say I’ve no…” I didn’t have enough courage to finish the sentence off, but I knew I would have owned her.

“No what?” Stacy said with gritted teeth.

I’ve never felt so terrified in my life. Should I say it? Before I could think it through I felt a hand take hold of the collar on my shirt.

“Spit it Mia!” Nancy had taken the matters in her hands.

“Uhh…” I stuttered.

She tightened her grip and said, “I'd like to punch you in the nose, but why should I improve your looks?”

With those last words she let go, pushed me into the bush and ran off at the sight of a teacher.

I groaned in annoyance as I reached for the alarm clock, it showed 6:30am. In no time at all I was up and ready for my daily jog.

I was currently sat on a swing at the park while my eyes were wide in shock at the view; I glanced down at my phone to check the time, 8:00am. What were ‘they’ doing here? Oh no, they were heading towards me. I could feel my stomach tighten and my cheeks heat up.

I just knew this wasn’t going to end well.

“Oh look, it’s her,” I heard Stacy comment from a distance, loud enough for the world to hear.

“Great,” I spoke under my breath sarcastically.

Snapping me out of my thoughts Ashley began by saying, “shouldn’t you be at home watching My Little Pony?”

I was furious by this stage but all that came out of my mouth was, “Remind me to high five you in the fa…”

Nancy was being nosy and butted in, “listen here, you little disease, my karate skills work the wonder, so I suggest you stop talking while you can.”

I obeyed her because I didn’t want to cause anymore arguments. I had realized that at school yesterday Ashley hadn’t teased me; she just stood at the back with guilty expressions. It was like déjà vu, she hadn’t said anything mean to me ever, not yesterday and not today. She doesn’t own a personality like the twins, Stacey and Nancy, Ashley is a very sensitive person. I guess, Ashley is just like me, afraid to stick up to the bullies, in Ashley’s case her very own ‘friends.’

The school was crowded with parents, I guess it was parent teacher interviews for the year eleven and twelve’s.

So far this had been the best day of all the school year. No Stacey, no Nancy and no Ashley. I guess ‘The Popular Group’ won’t be finding me for a while. Changing the spot I hang out at had made a big difference; I feel that there has finally been a hint of hope and happiness in my life.

It’s so peaceful; I was watching the rainbow as it washed over the sky, hearing the soothing sounds of birds singing and eating my food for once without being disturbed. Boy, I could get use to this.

A month passed Nancy, Stacey and Ashley were nowhere to be seen. Life is worth living.

I thought to soon. They found me inside the tree house the school had built many years ago for a school production that was outdoors. Technically it was out of bounds but nobody ever checks it. Except the three popular/rebels of the school. They explore more than Dora.
