Interests: Biology, animals, books, video games, and alternative music
Personality: Friendly, but just has a few good friends. You like being around people with the same interests as you. You can be a little sarcastic at times, but otherwise you are pretty down-to-earth.
Background: You have just turned 20 years old in January, and you're just moving to Australia in your third year of college. You are a biology major who loves to study animals, especially koalas. You're moving from Michigan, USA. Your parents work for a car company in Detroit, and you have a little 14-year-old sister named Callie. You're just about to leave to catch your flight at the airport, so hurry up with that packing!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Y/N! You almost done up there? The flight leaves in two hours! We have to leave!" your mom shouts from the bottom of the stairs. You're frantically racing around your room, making sure that everything is packed into the three bags sitting on your bed. Callie sits across the room on her bed, watching some YouTube videos with her earbuds in. You glance at the screen and see the familiar cubes of Minecraft. You never understood why she preferred to watch people play a game rather than just play it herself.
"Almost!" you yell back. You're half excited to be leaving to Australia and starting a new life, but half worried because you've never been out of the country, let alone lived outside of it. You double check and triple check all your dresser drawers and then flop on your small bed, staring at the ceiling. You're going to miss your shared room with the white walls and green ceiling, but you'd rather die than admit it to Callie. You glance at the clock on her desk, which reads 4:12. You should get going, but you triple check your whole side of the room again to make sure you didn't miss anything. It is completely bare, but Callie's side is completely covered up with posters and drawings and clutter. It's like someone drew and invisible line between you and your sister.
Hoisting your bags off the bed, you grab Callie's arm and push her headphones off of her head so that her glasses fall on the bed too. "Hey!" she says in her high-pitched voice. "I'm not done yet!"
"Well, it's time to go," you say. You are more excited than worried right now. You do want to get away from Callie for a while. You push one of the suitcases' handles into her hand, swing your backpack onto your shoulder, and walk out of the room without looking back. You don't want to become too attached and then be sad too. You reach the bottom of the stairs, lugging your suitcase behind you, and hear Callie start to pound down the stairs. Your mom greets you at the front door and looks to your dad, who stands by the car outside.
"Come on you two. Y/N, do you have everything?"
"Yes, I'm sure. I triple checked," you say, but look around the living room just in case. You spot your phone charger next to the couch. "Aha!" You snatch it quick before you head out the door. You thought you might have been missing something.
Your dad helps lift the suitcases into the trunk of the car and then sits in the driver's seat. You hate sitting in the back, especially next to Callie, but there's no arguing with your mom to see who gets shotgun. Oh well, the airport is only a few miles away. You endure the bad music your parents put on until you get there.
(Sorry this is kind of a boring chapter, but I just wanted to start the story going. Thanks for reading and I hope to update really soon.)
