I tapped my pencil on my desk, along to the rhythm of the ticking clock daring myself to keep my eyes off of the moving hand that decided my fate. Against my will, my eyeballs decided to move around in my sockets until they wandered upon the clock above the teacher's desk. There was only ten more minutes until the bell rang, releasing me from my misery, and therefore crowding the halls with teenagers bursting with energy and heartfelt love towards the food they could now dig into. I attempted to work with some of the questions on my test, and to my amazement, I deciphered one of the enormous math problems, turning it into something within my grasp. Five more minutes! An angelic voice sung in the back of my head. I hear a rustle of paper, and turn around to find a tightly folded paper arrive next to my desk. With my eyes on the teacher, Mrs. Wilson, I quickly grab the blessing in disguise. I quietly unfold the bonded paper, and look at the code on the page. This was my best friends idea, to create a code that the teacher wouldn't understand if she ever caught us passing notes in class. I quickly figured the message out, being quick to learn. It read "Did you see what that girl wore to school today? I mean, like, who wears leopard with stripes?" I chuckled, imagining Lily gossiping about people. We had decided to act like the "Popular" group, and make fun of them. The girl had actually made a pretty good fashion statement, and she had managed to pull it off. Something that most girls couldn't do.
"Bring! Bring!" the bell rang, and before the teacher could say anything, we all ran out of the room like a herd of wild animals. I caught up to Lily, her blond hair swishing in the wind. She always managed to look beautiful, even when she had her hair up in a ponytail, which I couldn't do if it was worth my life. She was a tall, outgoing, skinny, good-looking girl, which meant that she was the exact opposite of me. Still, we went together like butter and bread, and we had been besties for almost our whole lives.
"You know I could go for, Jess? I could really use a burger right now." Lily hintfully suggested.
"O.K. Lily. We'll go get some food after we finish our homework." I tauntingly replied, pointing to her stuffed back-pack.
"Can we just eat now?" She relentlessly whined, continuing the blame game that she always got a kick out of playing. "I promise we'll do our homework.... eventually." She added, ever so sneakily adding the word "eventually" into her little speech.
"Fine. But if you cause me to get kicked out of math, oh boy will you get it!" I menacingly stated, rolling up my paper and attempting to hit her on the shoulder with it. She broke out into a laughing fit, and we walked out of the school like the couple of teenagers that we were.
