They met in a library.

Naomi had her arms filled with books so high, it almost covered her face. She had a hard time deciding...on anything, especially books. She loved reading. She loved music. She loved a lot of things. She loved her partially colorful hair. She loved her glowing eyes. She loved her freckles. She loved her matte black nail polish. She loved herself.

Eric stared at her from afar. Her brown hair with pink ends intrigued him. Her plain brown eyes seemed marvelous, he loved seeing them in the sun. They turned into golden orbs, almost like what the sun's cousin would look like. He thought of her freckles as a game of connect the dots, where the picture would be something beautiful. Her black nails made him think of his black hair and how they would match perfectly. He thought of her.

He finally asked for her number. He finally pulled an all nighter, texting her when she couldn't sleep. He finally had a friend in Science. He had plenty of friends, but was lonely in the one class she was in. They talked, a lot.

He grew fond of another girl. He still loved Naomi, but only platonically.

They grew apart.

She stopped texting him at two a.m when her thoughts were too loud for her to mask on her own. She started listening to louder music. She missed him though.

He moved on from their friendship. He fell in "love" with other girls. He missed her though.

Then a year later, they were in eighth grade.

His friends teased her, for they thought she liked Eric. Naomi never did.

Her friends quietly watched him, for they thought he would be perfect for Naomi. Eric never was.

Halfway through the year, they got seated next to each other in English class. He tried to rebuild their friendship. He made comments in class to her and her only. He made her laugh. Her laughter seemed to be a sickness that was highly contagious. They always ended up laughing so hard that tears streamed out of their eyes.

Her hair was different now. Her hair was blue, bright sky blue. From her roots to her ends. He wanted to play with her hair in class, but it was only down to her collarbone.

He never asked for her new number, he just became "class friends" with her. She never knew if he realized that she had changed phone number four times since they last texted.

Freshman year fell upon them quickly.

Eric and Naomi weren't friends. Naomi called their "friendship" an on and off friendship. Eric called it an odd friendship. Naomi used her words better though.

They didn't have a single class together that year. Naomi's black to blonde ombré took him by surprise. They glanced at each other for longer periods of time then they should've when they passed each other in the halls. They smiled at each other on occasion. It was an odd year for them.

Sophomore year was tough.

Eric and Naomi had almost every class together. They got seated near each other in all the classes they had together. Naomi refused to talk to him unless it was solely class related. Eric gave her his phone number, she always forgot to write down the homework. She reluctantly took it.

Eric really liked Naomi's hair this year. It was spilt at her slight side part with little side bangs that weren't very noticeable, only because they covered her left eyebrow. On one half she had deep, dark purple. On the other, was a bright, but pale purple. Her hair was only a little under her chin.

Naomi loved heavy metal up until the summer before the current year. She found out about Melanie Martinez, who had captured her heart immediately. She loved everything about her.

Eric noticed the change in music. Her music was as loud as it had been before, possibly louder, but the lyrics were different.

He starting thinking about her again.

She started thinking about her wishes again.

They both starting thinking again.
