I woke up the next morning, took a quick shower, ate breakfast and went to school. Things were normal at first, until Nathan talked to me. He never talks to me on public. No one even knows that we're related. It's part of his social life which I don't interfere with. "What do you want from me?" I asked grabbing my books from my locker. "You, Mae. I want you." He said my name firmly which was odd. "What do you want? And besides we're in public, why are you even talking to me?" I said rolling my eyes and walked passed him. "So, I can't talk to my sister in public now?" He said holding my hand tightly. "Well, you were the one who came up with the stupid idea. Part of your so called public appearance." I said making quotation marks in the air. He grabbed my hand and dragged me going out. "Mae, I want you to listen to me, Brent will take you home. You can't drive home yourself or with Natalie." He said looking straight into my eyes as if I was in danger or something. "Why? You're not even my father." I said moving a small distance away from him. "Don't be so stubborn," The bell rang, and he added, "Is that understood? Brent will take you home." He said walking towards the door. "But why?" I shouted as loud as I could so he can hear me. "You'll find out. Soon." He said turning to me and then left me deserted outside the school.

"Mae, are you insane? That's like every girls dream." Natalie said in excitement when I told her that Brent will take me home. "I know but not mine." I said getting up from my sit to take my phone from the teacher which was confiscated a while ago. "Can I come with you?" Natalie asked. "Of course you can." I said nodding my head at her. The last bell of the day rang and everybody was out. Screaming, yelling, whistling, people celebrating the end of hell. "Too bad we have cheerleading practice." I said elbowing Natalie. We walked past the field to where the gym was located. "Natalie McCall and Mae Tucker, no cheerleading practice for both of you." Coach Miriam said. "Coach but why?" Natalie asked in fury. Natalie was the captain and she never trusted anyone to take over her place, ever. "You've got this." Coach Miriam raised a white envelope high up in the air, which was an excuse letter.

"An excuse letter for us to skip practice?" Natalie asked my brother Nathan. "It's for your safety." Nathan looked at Natalie and winked at her. "What safety? We can take care of ourselves." I retorted and grabbed Natalie's arm heading to my room. "I can't believe this. There's something going on. They're hiding something from me, us." I said, quickly locking the door of my room. "And we need to find it out." I added. "Are you insane? What if Nathan just wants you to be safe? After all he's you older brother." Natalie said calmly as if everything is normal. "Well, yeah you got a point there, but it's just weird." I said scratching my head in confusion. "You know what, this is only today. Tomorrow, it'll be normal. Nothing odd tomorrow." I said grabbing my bag from the floor and throwing it on my bed. "Nothing." Natalie replied, nodding her head agreeing with me.
