"Jason!" I scream, I slowly back into the corner behind me. I feel the cool tile though my shirt. Wailing sirens blare in my ears
"Jason!" I yelled louder, panic in my voice. A group of scientist, some wearing hazmat suits, surround me. They step closer, and I slid down the the wall closing my eyes. Tears fall down my cheeks making them damp.
"Jason" I say, quieter and weaker then the calls before. I feel something wet hit me, it is thick and warm, and a thud follows it. I slowly open my eye my heart thumping in my ears. I gasp at the life less bodies before me, there head cut clean off. I look up and Jason stands in front of me, a bloody sword in his hand, his white shirt stained with blood. I wonder if any of it is his...
"You called" He says smiling viscously as if he's enjoying all of this. He extends out his hand.
"Come on, by the sounds of those sirens I'm guessing they call in reinforcements."
I stand, stumbling a few steps. My legs are weak, but i brush off his help. Jason crouches by the bodies pulling out there wallets. He opens a few throwing IDs on the ground before shoving them into his pockets. He pats one of them on the back and whispers something, but i cant hear what.
We run down the sterile hall ways, making twist and turns. We run past lab tables, shoving bottles and containers into bag slung over our shoulders.
By the time we reach the exit my breath is heavy and my legs ache. I put my hands on my knees taking short breaths. I watch as Jason pull out a card and scan it. Then with a loud beep we're free. We look at each other, his eyes meet mine for a moment. He nods and with one swift motion he pushes the door open.
Light invades my eyes and I have to squint them to see. I take a deep breath. Fresh air fills my lungs, cleansing them.
I look to both sides before stoping slowly placing my hand on his shoulder signaling him to stop. He turns, smiling. There is a softness in his eyes.
"What about the others?" I whisper quietly. Jason glares down at his feet avoiding my eyes, his smiles fades.
"Kittcat and Ax are in the car." He pauses "But Sketch and your sister didn't make it." He chokes on the word sister. I turn so he cant see my face and sink to my knees, the weight of the Earth crushing me. I hear Jason step closer to me and places his hand on my shoulder.
"Spark," He whispers, his voice almost a whimper. "Spark I'm.."
My eyes burn, and tears blur my vision. I sniff as I stand breaking Jason's grip.
"Come on.. we need to go." I choke as I walk away, my face wet with tears.
The car was quiet. Neither of us spoke, much less make a sound. Kittcat sits beside me, twiddling her thumbs. I could tell she had a lot on her mind but couldn't bring myself to ask. In a way, I already knew. She looks at me and smiles weakly, a look of sorrow in her eyes. She pulls at her gloves. Her short white hair falls sloppily over her right eye. A sheet of glass lays over her left eye with lines of words and code displayed obstructing her view. I looked out the window and watch as the trees pass by.
I wanted to drive but Jason wouldn't let me. He said I needed some rest. That I had been through a lot. I hate when he talks to me like that. It makes me feel weak. But he was right so I didn't argue with him.
I bury my head in my hands trying to suppress tears.
"So where are we going" Says Ax braking the piercing silence. He had been so quiet I had almost forgot he was there. We wait waiting for Jason to speak.
"I was thinking we go and stay at a motel and get some rest first then head our way to the nearest city" Jason smiles looking through the mirror at me. Theres a soft look in his eyes it comforts me but I ignore it as best as possible. Ax reach in to the glove box and pulls out a map, crinkling it between his fingers.
