I thought long and hard about my answer. What if I got hurt? Would my plans with Bella be gone forever? But, how much more will she love me if I rescue her father?

“I’ll do it,” I pronounced expectedly.

There was scattered clapping, and, I felt suddenly very embarrassed.

“Okay, okay, guys, calm down,” Captain Michael started. “Alright, all of you, back to your quarters. Zoe, meet me in my office in a half hour.”

He began turning toward me, and I realized this is the start of a new adventure.

“Alright Sean, ready to begin your training?” He said with a laugh and a wink.

I looked back at him and asked, “There’s more training?”

“No!” He exclaimed, laughing hysterically. “Basically, we need to go and pick you some weapons you like working with, and pick an assignment for you to go and check out.”

Wow, it’s that easy. That sounds like fun! I thought to myself.

We walked slowly into the weapons room, and I was admiring the weapons there. They must have had every type of gun made in the late 20th century and every gun from the last 11 years stored in this room. I was going to have a lot of trouble deciding which gun I wanted to use.

“Look around, have whatever you want,” Captain Michael stated, while waving his arms around in a big arc, pointing to majority of the guns in the room.

After a lot of though, I decided to go with the M4 carbine and dual Desert Eagle pistols.

“Do those guns suit you Sean?” The Captain asked politely.

“They’re great,” I replied. “Now, can I go pick an assignment? I’m itching to do something.”

“Sure, this way, I’ll show you what needs to be done.”

I followed Captain Michael purposefully into the large room he led me into.

“So, we have a few things to do. But, first, do you want a team mission, or a solo mission? We tend not to send people on solo missions, so we have a fair few of those to do.”

“Well,” I replied, “I think I’d like to do a solo mission. What sounds good?”

He pointed to a map on a wall and started his briefing, “there’s a nuclear power plant in this area. The terrorists are using it to power French encampments, and as a way to create nuclear bombs. We need to get rid of the plant. We just having found anyone to take the job yet, it’s near suicide.”

I’ll do it. Near suicide sounds fun, I thought to myself.

“I’ll take it. How do I get there?” I questioned.

“Well, we have another Harrier if you wanna take that? Or we can find you a pilot for it, to make it a bit easier?”

“Yeah, the Harrier sounds good. And, if you can find a good pilot, throw him in to. It would be good to make some mates here.” I replied with power and dignity.

The Captain muttered a few words which I assumed to be ‘Follow me’ and began to leave the room. I ran off behind him, and caught up as he was leaving the large map room. We walked slowly down the narrow corridor, toward the hanger I landed in earlier. He lead me past the doorway to that, and instead to another hanger, with a smaller Harriet Jet inside.

There was a man standing next to the plane, in full flying gear. I have a funny feeling they were expecting my response, I pondered silently.

“Sean, this is our pilot Chase Matthews. He is our most skilled pilot, I’m sure he’d be happy to fly you on this mission,” the captained offered.

“It would be my honor Agent Childs,” Chase stated politely.

“None of that shit,” I retorted. “You will call me Sean, and we can just speak like mates, I’m no better than you.”

“Yes Sean,” Chase replied, again, politely.

“He’ll do, Captain. How soon can we go?” I asked, turning to face the Captain again.

“You my leave as soon as you’re ready.”

After exchanging a few words with Chase, we both hopped into the Harrier Jump Jet, and exited the hangar.

“So Sean,” Chase asked me after about ten minutes of flying at high speeds, “have you ever done something like this?”

“No, I haven’t. The only stuff I have done was pretty little, and always in a team,” I replied to him honestly.

“Well-“ He was cut off by the sound of Tracer Bullets flying into the cabin, and I saw him black out in his seat.

The plane was spiraling madly downwards, and I couldn’t escape the clutches of my seat belt.

Moments before the plane hit the ground, I escaped my seat and reached for the eject button on Chases’ seat, which would send us both hurtling out of the plane.

I was a fraction too late.
