I groaned at the sunlight streaming through the blinds, groggily opening my eyes. A loud thumping was echoing through my ears, and it took me a moment to realize that it was coming from someone knocking on my door. I rolled off the couch, lightly padding over to it. I opened the door slowly, squinting against the light, only to see the guys from yesterday.
Their eyes all widened. Chris coughed before speaking up.
"You look like shit." He stated bluntly before walking past me and into my house. I stood there in shock at his comment while the rest of the guys followed his lead, all filing into the kitchen. Once again, Ricky's gaze rested on me a little too long, causing me to shift uncomfortably before closing the door and joining the guys.
"So, is there a reason you guys are here, or did you just come to insult how I look when I wake up?" I asked, grabbing a water bottle and sipping it as I leaned against the counter. Balz laughed, ruffling my hair before he hopped on top of the counter.
"Well, you DID say we could come over any time." He replied.
"I didn't mean at the ass crack of dawn, smartass." I mumbled, causing the rest of them to giggle while Balz shot me a playful glare. I flipped him off in return, making him grin.
Ricky turned to me, throwing an arm over my shoulders.
"You seem cool. Cool meaning you sound like you just wanna kick back and have fun, like us." He gestured to everyone else. "What made you want to move to bland and boring Scranton?" He spat the word out like it was venom, and I leaned my elbows onto the counter.
I shrugged. "Just needed a fresh start, I guess." I sighed, running a hand through my unkempt, unruly hair. It probably did really look like shit. "Plus, I like the idea of wreaking havoc on a small town, tearing shit up, ya know?" I wiggled my eyebrows mischievously, and they all threw me skeptical looks. Ryan even scoffed.
"YOU like to party?" He asked in disbelief. I raised my eyebrow in question, standing up and squaring up my shoulders.
"What, you think I can't handle it?" I asked, crossing my arms over my chest. I had always been the type of girl to defend her pride, even if it was over stupid shit... which often led to me getting in a lot of trouble. But, what the hell, Ryan had pissed me off.
He just smirked, sliding off the counter and heading for the front door, the rest of the guys following him. Standing in the door frame, he turned back to me. "Come to the party at our house tonight at 8 and prove you can handle it." He winked at me before walking out. They all filed behind him, Ricky lingering back a little longer and walking over to me. He leaned down closer to my face.
"Wear something sexy," he whispered, his breath ghosting by ear, causing me to shiver. He smirked before walking back out with the rest of them, leaving me flustered and staring at the open doorway.
Ricky's POV
I ran to catch up with the guys, who were playfully shoving each other around as they walked down Ella's driveway. As soon as I reached Ryan, I spun him around forcefully, staring at him with all the anger I had in me. He looked shocked, considering I didn't usually pick a fight with anyone.
"What the hell was that, Ryan? Why would you ever think to invite her?" I spat, causing him to flinch. He shrugged his shoulders, wincing at the amount of pressure my hands were putting on his shoulders.
"She'll be fine, Rick," he sighed, pushing me off. "The others wouldn't think to hurt a human. They'd get in a lot of trouble." I was still shaking with anger. They'd try to hurt her, I just knew it.
"I don't want her getting hurt. If she does, your ass is dead, Sitkowski." I growled before turning and walking away. I heard one of the guys snicker, before Brandon spoke up.
"Does Ricky have a little crush?" He yelled. The guys laughed and made overdramatic kissing noises as they caught up to me. Josh clapped me on the shoulder while Ghost just smiled at me. I sighed angrily.
"I don't have a crush, we just don't need her blood on our hands." I mumbled, but the guys just shrugged it off. I clenched my jaw, keeping my eyes forward as we walked into the woods. They continued teasing me, Chris even going as far as saying "I bet he'll kiss her tonight at the party." As much as I tried to deny any feelings for Ella, I couldn't help but blush at the thought. She was definitely a pretty girl, but I hardly knew her.
Suddenly, an all too familiar scent filled my nostrils. I stopped, and I saw the others come to a halt as well in my peripherial vision. The smell made my mouth water, and I looked to the direction from which it came. My eyes nearly bulged out of my head. We hadn't fed in weeks, and it was probably a risk for us to even go and see Ella today. Any of us could've lost control. But now, with a pack of deer grazing in a nearby clearing, we stood no chance against the agonizing thirst that pained us.
We all shot toward the clearing, the deer barely moving before we had them pinned to the ground beneath us. Superhuman speed gives you some advantages, folks.
I'll skip the gory details of the feeding, since I know you humans tend to be quite lighthearted. But yeah, I suppose you've guessed it. If you haven't? Well, you don't pay quite enough attention to details, but I guess I'll have to say it.
We're fucking vampires.
