I am in an 8 week long Bible Study group called Hey Girl. So, I wanted to share that with you guys!
The speech at Hey Girl really affected me. The topic was, 'What defines your worth?' I have struggled with understanding my worth when I see the worst in myself. The girl who got up on stage shared her testimony (I am convinced she is a vessel of all of the fruit of the spirit). She explained that she had a disorder where she would pull out her hair. She had been bald, and she had had a full head of hair. She told us how for a time she thought God loved her less because of the verse, 'God knows the number of hairs on your head.' She explained how she still struggled with that, because for so long she tried to find her worth in others. I know how easy it is to want to be validated. I lived my life up until recently living for another validation from my parents to confirm I was a good kid and that I had a good heart. I mean, why wouldn't I want to be validated by two of the most holy people I know! Yet, last night I am learning that your worth is not determined by your parents, not by your looks, not by your amount of friends, not by your knowledge, and not by your expectations of yourself. If you hold your worth in those things, you will never know your worth, because it has always been there. You have always been enough, you have never not been enough, and you will always be enough no matter what you do. God does not love you less because of your actions, He does not withhold his love from you so you learn a lesson, He does not forsake you when you feel alone, He does not need you to prove your worth to him because He already knows that you are enough. The only thing you need to believe is that YOU are enough, because if you weren't God wouldn't have died for you. He endured pain, torture, and death because you are enough and He wanted your worth to be eternal.
