Travis went home at about 8:30. We basically just spent the whole time lying down on my bed talking. My aunt and uncle still weren't here so I just took a shower, brushed my teeth, and went to bed.
The next morning I got up with a little more bounce in my step. I skipped to my closet and picked out the first thing I saw which was a white tank top, black jacket, and a pair of skinny jeans. After I went to my bathroom and looked at my reflection.
My bed head wasn't that bad, but I still combed it. After I brushed my teeth and headed to the kitchen.
Once I got to the kitchen, I saw my aunt sleeping with her head on the counter with a bunch of papers surrounding her.
She must've gotten home so late that she fell asleep. I'll let her rest for a few minutes more.
I walked to the refrigerator and opened it. I took out the milk and poured myself a cup.
"Abby?" I heard my aunt say groggily.
"Yes?"
"What time is it?" she asked.
I looked at the clock. "Um, 7:15."
"What! Why didn't you get me up earlier? We're gonna be late!"
"Relax Aunt. We still have plenty time."
But she didn't listen. Instead she ran up to her room to get ready. I sighed.
"Well, I guess I'll just be in the car!" I hollered.
"Okay!" my aunt yelled.
I was about to head outside, but the papers that my aunt was sleeping on caught my attention.
Truthfully, I knew I shouldn't have looked, but I still did.
They were hospital bills. The funny thing was, they were,'t mine. They were my uncle's. It said that he had been going there for awhile and needed a lot of medication for something. And I have no idea what that something is.
That really shocked me.
I'll ask my aunt later, I thought. So instead, I just went to wait in the car.
----------------------------------------------------------
The whole day went by with me wondering why my uncle was at the hospital for a such a long time and why he needed so much medication.
I didn't notice school was over until a hand suddenly popped in my vision and started shaking wildly.
"Princess, Princess. Anyone home?" Travis said.
"Oh, um sorry. I was distracted."
Yeah, I can see that. So, what's got you distracted?"
"Oh nothing, just stuff."
"That's not a very detailed answer."
"I'm not trying to make it detailed."
"Please tell me. I won't judge or tell anyone."
"It's not that I don't want to tell you, I just can't really tell you. I don't know exactly know why I'm so distracted."
"Well then, tell me what's got you confused."
"Fine. Okay so this morning I saw my aunt sleeping on a bunch of papers. Once she woke up and went to her room, I looked at what the papers were. They were my uncle's hospital bills. I knew that he was sick and went to the hospital, but the bills said that he went there multiple times and had some sort of medication assigned for him. So what's got me so confused is why my uncle was at the hospital a lot and what's wrong with him? Why is he visiting the hospital, is he infected with something? I have absolutely no idea."
"Maybe he's running a bad fever or has the flu."
"Possibly. I don't know. I was gonna ask my aunt."
"Okay. Promise to tell me what's happening once you find out?"
"Promise."
"Great. Now shall we get out of school Princess?" he asked.
I laughed. "We shall."
--------------------------------------------
"Hey Aunty, could I talk to you?" I approached my aunt.
"Sure thing. What's wrong?" she questioned worriedly.
"Oh nothing. I'm just concerned about uncle. Why has he been at the hospital so much?"
"What are you talking about?"
"I saw on the papers on the counter that he was recently checked in at the hospital a couple times and needed some sort of medication."
"You went through my papers?!" my aunt burst.
"Um, yeah? I was just curious."
"Abby, you have no right to go through my personal papers!"
"I didn't know they were your personal papers!"
"Well, I was near it, weren't I?"
"Technically, you were sleeping on it."
"Are you talking back?!"
"I'm just defending myself."
"You know what, go to your room young lady."
"What?!"
"You heard me, go to your room, NOW!"
"Fine!" and with that, I stomped off to my room. Once I got there, I opened my door and slammed it closed.
"Fuck." I said quietly.
