At least 30 feet tall a monster with the head and body of a lion, the tail of a scorpion and wings of a bat. I stood there in silence not knowing what to do. The monster first strutted to Alex. "What a pretty little boy...." It said in a hissing female voice "You will be quite the looker when older, wont u? Precious little demigod" it hissed "Too bad you will be my breakfast!" She stated. "Get away from him!" I said trying to keep my voice from quivering. "Hmm you are a brave one aren't you?" It turned and took few steps facing me "You know what I do to brave demigods? I steal their souls then eat them ALIVE!" She yelled her head nearly inches from mine. "So sh-shut up!" She hissed grabbing me then turning to Alex. "Let...her...go." He said his hands becoming fists. "Oh so we have another brave one" she laughed. "Ok, fine" she hissed setting me down grinning. The twinkle in her eyes when she set me on the ground seemed happy... It made me nervous. "You will be the first to go, then, now what would you prefer me eating your head or legs first?" She said smiling mischievously . "Stop!" I yell taking a step to go in front of Alex and to face the monster. "Oh," she said making a face like she understood "You have known this boy for a while I'd guess? Willing to take your life to protect him? A dumb move really, and to think, you, yourself would have been very successful when you are older. Too bad you are so, entirely, pathetic!" She hissed with a wicked grin growing on her face. That was it. It was my birthday, I wasn't gonna let anyone ruin this for me. My heart starts pumping a bit faster, my teeth clench and I feel my hands becoming fists. I slowly close my eyes.
When I open them it feels like waking up from a dream, it was all pretty hazy, there were plants, lots and lots of plants. At one point there was a... A goat? Wait no it was my teacher (Mr.Verlin) dressed up as a goat? I don't know..l but the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes was destruction the road was cracked and broken up everywhere, with vines coming out of the ground. I look across the street and see a pile of shiny dust... Then I notice Alex. He was dead. Tears stream down my face as I run to him to check his heart beat. Are teacher still half goat came running. That's kinda when I fainted.
