Isabel sighed. Stupid human dying so soon. And of all days, it was a Monday. She didn't particularly care, she was immortal so death, of course, didn't effect her, physically and mentally. She shuffled her feet, she had been to so many different funerals, it just became a routine. This one felt different though. Lizzy had been a good friend, yes, but there was something more. She looked back up at her friend in the coffin. Sobs and sniffs could be heard. She looked at her friend's pale, almost translucent, skin. Her once berry red lips were a grey. Such beauty just wasted. Just then she thought she saw a slight movement from her dead friend. She looked closer. She was taking shallow breaths. She was alive! Isabel laughed softly, Lizzy was horrible at pretending to be dead.
All of a sudden she rose up from her coffin, like in the classic monster movies. She had a twisted grin and her piercing blue eyes could be seen from where Isabel was standing. Pulsing black veins could be seen in her forehead. When did people start freaking out?Only after Lizzy bit a small boy and then the boy went on to bite someone else. It was some sort of zombie virus. Lizzy hobbled over to Isabel. Isabel stared down at her undead friend. She could tell that the thing in front of her was trying to think. For a second while staring into the creatures eyes she thought she saw the playful grin of Lizzy but that was quickly replaced by pure animal instinct.
It launched itself at Isabel and bit her arm and quickly ran off. It had bit through her new black blazer. She sighed and took it off and dropped it on the ground. She felt the virus course through her veins, but it had no effect on her as she didn't have a sudden craving for brains. Since she was no longer wearing her blazer her huge black wings were exposed. They were velvety soft and, in Isabel's opinion, her greatest asset.
All of a sudden she was whacked over the head. She fell to the ground, she felt her skull repairing itself. She jumped into the air and floated down, using her wings, in front of the terrified man that was holding a pipe. she carefully folded her wings behind her. She grabbed his head with one hand, her fingers in the hollows of his cheeks. She looked dully into his eyes. He squirmed and tried to free himself but couldn't. She smirked. She had been waiting a long time to do this.
"Beauty is pain" Isabel whispered softly as she crushed his cheek bones, making his cheeks appear sharper. She dropped him and he fell into a crying mess on the ground as zombies came around to devour him. Stupid human. She took to the sky and decided to search for the undead Lizzy.
She found her with a broken arm, wandering the cemetery. Isabel landed and grabbed the undead Lizzy by the shoulder. She closed her eyes and tried to concentrate to draw the virus out, but she could only draw so much out.
"Isabelll." She heard the undead Lizzy croak out.
Isabel opened her eyes to see Lizzy staring at her. Virus still coursed through her veins but she was holding it off. A single tear fell from Lizzy. Isabel hugged her friend very tightly. She was the only one who knew about Isabel's immortality.
"I'm sorry" Isabel whispered when she pulled away.
Virus started to cloud Lizzy's eyes again. Isabel could no longer hold it off. She took her nearly undead friend's head between her two hands. She violently jerked her friends neck at a right angle. A loud snap could be heard and her friend collapsed no longer taken over by that horrible virus.
Isabel carefully picked up the body and flew it back to the coffin. With one last goodbye, she snapped the lid closed on her friend forever.
