As Linda turned around, there was a certain adrenalin rush in her body. She gasped as this was the same guy which she had seen at the railway station and again at the coffee shop. As they both saw each other he saw the perfect white skin and the hazel colored eye that were directly staring at her and making her hypnotize with its stare. There were a lot of thoughts that were coming into the minds of Linda. But at times like these, when we have so many things to say, so many things to express, we get confused about what to speak and what to express. Heart leaves the prudency given by the brain and the tongue disobeys the signal given by the brain as to what to say.
"Well, I was thinking you would do that. I have been thinking the same. Or could it just be the familiar face that we see in the crowd?" Linda asked from the guys still staring and lost in the charm of his voice and locked in his haze.
"Well no. If that was the regular crowd face, then I would not have been walking behind you. But as I am putting pressure on my brain, I guess my memory is giving me some hints about where I have seen you. And I am getting a feeling that we have seen each other many a time in the same place for a long period of time and still have not noticed each other."
"I guess then you are the books that are kept on my shelf. We also share the same kind of relationship that you have just mentioned." Linda said that by finally able to break the stare from him. It actually took a real deal of struggle to break it, it was as if someone just forced you out of your dream and woke you up.
"Alright. You know what? We study in the same school and you are the girl that comes in my Biology class at 12 noon. Now is that right?" he said that in an emphatic tone.
"Yes oh yeah. And you are the famous Chris. Chris who does not miss. The cool sports captain. Right?" Linda also said that trying to control her anxiety as she could not believe that the guy who was always surrounded by hot cheerleaders was following her. That he had been seeing her for past 3 years and had not noticed her in a class of 20 people, recognized her in a crowd of 2000 people. She really liked the way her thoughts sounded. It made her feel special.
"Well I guess you are pretty special in your own ordinary ways. You are eccentric, you are not after anything, always at peace with yourself. I just wish that we knew each other earlier." Chris said that with a very obvious slight remorse in his voice.
"It is not too late now also to know each other." Replied Linda.
"Yes, and I think that the aroma of a coffee would be just nice to help us to know each other better." Chris proposed Linda in a very subtle manner.
"As you should probably know, we just had a coffee – me and my friend. But yes, the smell of a Chicken Ham might also help us." said Linda.
"Well certainly it is not about the smell of the food. It is actually your presence and the smell of your body odor that is going to help. So may I have that privilege of your companionship over a 'Chicken Ham'?" asked Chris by getting the accent of formality.
"Yes, You may." Replied Linda in the same way in which Chris had asked.
While she was leaving with Chris, Linda signaled Sara to not to wait for her. She excused herself from Chris and then told her that her room was unlocked in her house. She can go there and rest and that they will go to the shopping in the evening.
"Alright, you do not have to worry about me. Let us just hope that your fantasy comes true in this fine morning." Said Sara in a way that she was not talking but praying. Her voice did had a tone where she sounded like this was her wish and she wanted it to come true at any cost.
"Yeah, thanks and I hope you do not mind me leaving you alone like this when it was I who was supposed to take you out." Linda said that in a regretting tone.
"Oh come on darling, I have a certain space in your life. And the space which he might take, I cannot take that. So hold on tight to him, for I am going to coming back to you, he might not. And make sure you utilize the opportunity to the fullest." Sara was clearly very excited about Linda.
"Yeah thank you so much my sweetheart. Bye." Linda said that clearly matching the excitement level of Linda.
As Sara walked her way in the opposite direction, Linda turned around her heel to see Chris. As she turned around, to see the chiseled face of Chris, the only thing she saw was the empty road and the red postbox only. She turned back to see if he was back there where Sara was standing there but still could not find him or Sara. Now she fumbled around and turned around to see him. She was standing still there and wondering how quickly she has been isolated.
"Appreciation is done for the thing that goes around quickly and comes back surprisingly." Said Chris as he dropped in from somewhere at Linda's back.
"Yeah goes around quickly and comes around quickly too. And you have achieved that perfection in your behavior till now." Linda was not blushing and sheepishly smiling at Chris also.
Chris involuntarily lifted his hand and then slowly took his hand towards the face of Linda. His movement was really slow and was also stopping momentarily in between as if asking permission from her to whether or not he can approach her. In response to his move, Linda also lowered down her eyes at his hands, expecting the touch of his hand to transfer the brisk and cold feel of his palm onto her cheeks. Her eyes also gave an unsaid permission to Chris that he can approach her. And during all this, Linda had maintained that sheepish smile which tempted Chris even more to touch her quickly. Finally his hand reached the cheek of Linda, his thumb outlined the smiling lips and his rest of his hand covered the right part of Linda's face. To get more contact of his hand, Linda tilted her head towards right side.
"Isn't it unjust that a smile like this just came to your lips in the middle of a road for no good reason? Expression like this should be valued and given at right moment. You should not be throwing away expressions like these just like that."
"Beauty lies in the eyes of beholder. And it is not a worth even if it gets just one pair of worthy eyes. In fact, it is all for that one pair of eyes only." Linda said that in a feeling of stoned by the touch of Chris.
"I guess we will have to cancel the plan of Chicken Ham at a restaurant and what about a pancake at my house. It is very soft and delicious and smells good too. What say about that? I guess that will give us some more extra time to know each other better. And we can add more variety to the menu as well and all of this with a comfort of a home. So..?" the tone of Chris was now becoming softer as he tried to bring more depth into the situation.
