Candy

Chapter 1

"October first. Wow. Just thirty days until the big one."

"Yes, love. Halloween."

"Love? Oh, uh, love you, too." Candy rolled her eyes at Ron's failure to respond to a nickname. She picked her head up from his lap and sat up straight. They were at Ron's house. Candy decided to come over for a little visit while Ron's mom went to the dentist. She ruffled her beautiful hair and looked at Ron. He nervously glanced up from his fidgeting hand and quickly looked down again when they made eye contact.

"Is something wrong, babe?" Candy asked. Ron shook his head. Candy held out her hand and waved it through his straightened, black hair. "Oh, I don't believe that. Come on! Tell me!" She smiled at him lovingly, while he looked down and played with his hands. 

"I guess it's just school," Ron mumbled. Candy frowned at him.

"I don't believe that either." She leaned towards him and whispered in his ear, "Is it Katy?" Ron nodded his head. He began to cry, and Candy joined him. She started to give him a massage while they just sat and cried over Katy. They remember what happened at the Cheesecake Emporium. Candy had noticed Katy suddenly leave the table.

"Hey Ron, Katy's been in the bathroom for ten minutes. I'm going to go check on her," she said. Ron nodded and took a large bite out of a piece of bread. She walked over to the bathroom and slowly opened the door. "Katy?"

To Candy's surprise, a man covered in black from head to toe was standing in a stall. When the man heard her voice, he jumped in shock and looked over at Candy. He let out a loud gasp and raised his hand, revealing a bloody knife grasped in his grip. Candy screamed, and pointed at the knife.

"What are you doing? Why are holding a knife?" She whimpered and walked back. The man looked at his knife, and suddenly charged at Candy. She screamed and jumped out of his way. The man had run so hard, that he hit into the wall as she dodged from his attack. She slid over to the stall that the man was standing in, only to scream louder. There was Katy, head in the toilet, blood falling from five huge cuts on her back. 

The man charged at Candy again and stabbed her in the arm. She let out a shriek as the blade pierced into her skin. However, someone must have heard her screaming because a large man raced into the bathroom and grabbed the killer from behind. The man dropped his knife in shock and Candy backed against the wall crying. Several more people rushed to the bathroom to rescue Candy. Some held the man captive, others tried to help Candy. 

The cops came in a matter of minutes and took the killer off to jail. Ron ran over to Candy and immediately took her to the hospital where she was treated for her wound.

Candy stared unhappily at her cast. It was such an eyesore for her stunning body. Ron waved her hair and gave her a soft kiss. Candy stared at him, and smiled. She loved him. But she wanted something more out of a boyfriend. What she wanted was a boyfriend who would have rushed to help her the second she screamed in the bathroom. She wanted someone who was confident and secure and doesn't try to kill themselves every half an hour. 

She thought about it for a second. Who is like that? Who can protect her every second of her life? Who is confident in themselves? Then she found the answer! Steve!

She looked over, almost helplessly, at Ron. He was just staring out the window, thinking about the next time he was going to attempt cutting himself with a razor. She shuddered at the thought of it. She didn't want to deal with that again. She didn't want anymore horror and blood in her life.

All she cared about was a lifelong guarantee to escape the cruelties of life and death. Even though it got Katy killed, Candy believed that being around Steve will make her safer. A little extra support from her buffed-out jock boyfriend. And then when he's done saving his helpless damsel in distress, maybe a little bit of loving, Candy-styled. So sweet it'll be over before he knows it. She snickered. Ron looked at her, to see what she was smiling about, and she quickly wiped the smirk off her face.
