Before the three of us left, the boys handed us a wad of cash that we tried to refuse. “It’s just because they like you girls.” Calum whispered in my ear.

We were out shopping for clothes to wear on dates. I wasn’t going on a date anytime soon, but I still ended up buying a sleeveless blue floral dress.

“What about this one?” Camila asked holding up a teal blue dress with the top cut low.

“Well you guys have been dating for what? Six months? He’s probably seen a lot more of you than just a little cleavage. Have you guys… done it?”

Camila shook her head furiously. “Oh, no! I surprised myself when I said yes to Mikey when he asked me out. Boys make me nervous. Actually, he was my first kiss.” She blushed slightly.

“Aw that’s cute. What about you Lauren?” I asked.

She didn’t hesitate to answer. “I’ve had a few boyfriends, but none of them seem to last over a few months.”

“And you?” Camila asked me as she held a dress to her chest.

“What?”

“When was your last relationship?”

“It was when I was fourteen. We broke up right before my parents—“ I stopped myself. I wasn’t ready to go there. Camila and Lauren continued shopping and didn’t ask anything more about it. It must have been the look on my face.

At the end of the day, Lauren had bought a simple loose red dress, and some perfume from Victoria’s Secret that she thought Ashton would like. Camila had gone for a flowing white dress that complemented her curves perfectly. I wish I enjoyed shopping like normal teenage girls, but most times I just wasn’t in the mood.

Ashton had promised to pick us up at 5:30PM and it was getting close to that time. Technically, even though the girls both had their license, they weren’t the legal age to drive here in Australia. In fact, none of us were able to except Ash.

All three of us sat on the curve of the street waiting for Ashton. After a few minutes of sitting there in silence playing with my phone, I decided to say something. “So what do you think about the age difference between you and Ashton?”

“Well, it’s only two years. That’s not too bad is it?”

I shook my head. “My parents were three years apart.”

Finally, Ashton arrived. Camila and I piled in the back and Lauren took a seat next to Ashton up front. “What did you girls get?” he asked.

“You’ll get to see tomorrow.” Lauren said winking at him.

Ashton laughed and continued to drive, keeping his eyes on the road. I stared out the road reading the signs as they passed. “Ashton, stop the car!” I yelled.

The car skidded to a stop. “What’s wrong Lana?”

I rolled my eyes. “Now you’re calling me that too?”

I jumped out of the car and jogged back in front of the café. I made sure I read the sign right: NOW HIREING!

I took a deep breath. This was my chance.

I walked upstairs to Luke’s room to find him strumming his guitar on the bed. “Hey,” I greeted him dropping my bag beside the bed and taking a seat in front of him. “What’s up?”
