Sam dropped his bag at his house, whilst Tobias waited outside. Sam frantically rushed around, spraying on deodorant and combing his hair. He was so excited for this date; Tobias was so hot. Not because he's a demon, where hot is technically his go-to, but he was fit. Sam took one good look at himself in the mirror, before leaving to meet Tobias outside. Tobias saw Sam stepping out and walked up to meet him.
"So. . .", began Tobias. "Where's this Starbucks?"
"It's a small coffee shop, just down a few roads from here", said Sam.
"OK", said Tobias.
Sam and Tobias began walking down the road, making small talk. Tobias told Sam a joke about demons and monsters, then Sam laughed and bumped Tobias on the shoulder playfully. Then, two thugs walked past and one of them said:
"Faggot's"
They both began laughing hysterically, punching each other in the arm. Tobias looked back on them, puzzled. Sam sighed and shook his head.
"What's that about?", asked Tobias. "What's a faggot?"
"A faggot is an old tense used to mock people like us, it's called being homophobic", mumbled Sam angrily. "They were taking the piss of us because we are gay".
Tobias frowned.
"You humans really mock each other about sexuality?", he asked.
"Kind of, yeah", sighed Sam. "However, I've dealt with it most of my life. So I don't let it get to me, I've never been with a guy who I don't care to be seen with".
"And?", asked Tobias.
Sam leaned against Tobias's shoulder.
"I think I've found one", he said whilst smiling.
Tobias laughed and slid his hand into Sam's.
"Here we are", exclaimed Sam.
Sam and Tobias stood outside Starbucks, staring at the huge green face logo. The café was busting with life, almost every table was occupied. Sam and Tobias stared at the board of drinks, deciding what they are going to have.
"I think I'll have the Java Chip Frappuccino, well blended please", asked Sam.
"Certainly", said the cashier. "And your name?"
"Sam", replied Sam.
The cashier wrote Sam's name and order on his plastic cup.
"And you?", asked the Cashier.
Tobias started sweating, he had never done this before.
"I'll. . . I'll have the, uh. . .", he stuttered.
"He'll have the same as me", said Sam.
"Certainly", replied the cashier. "And your name is?"
"T-Tobias", said Tobias.
"Alright, your drinks will be done in a few minutes", smiled the cashier.
Tobias turned to Sam, and smiled weakly.
"Thanks", he said embarrassingly.
"No problem", laughed Sam.
"Two Java Chip Frappuccino's, both well blended", cooed the cashier.
Sam took his and gave Tobias his drink. He then paid the cashier and walked over to a table, where the sugar and other ingredients were. Tobias walked over shyly, staring at the assorted spices and toppings. He saw Sam pour a sachet of white powder into his drink, so he tried to copy him. Sam looked at what Tobias was doing, and saw him pour salt into his drink. Sam snorted, almost dropping his drink.
"What?", asked Tobias.
"You do know you poured salt into your drink instead of sugar?", replied Sam.
"Wait, am I?", asked Tobias.
He tried a sip of his Frappuccino, which made him scrunch up his face. He swallowed his drink bitterly, placing it back down.
"Great. . . Great drink", he mumbled.
"Next time, use this sugar instead of that salt. It will taste better", said Sam.
Tobias smiled embarrassingly.
"Do you want me to buy you another", asked Sam. "Or do you want to share mine?"
Sam looked at Tobias expectantly.
"Sure", smiled Tobias.
Sam and Tobias sat down at one of the tables, opposite each other. Sam placed his Frappuccino in between them both, two straws poking out of it. Sam and Tobias began drinking, then Sam brushed his leg against Tobias's. Both of them started blushing, when Tobias returned the favor by placing his hand on Sam's leg. Their eyes were fixed onto each other, not breaking contact for a long time. Suddenly, Tobias leant backwards, holding his head in his hands.
"Arghhhh! Why is my head so cold!?", he exclaimed.
Sam burst out laughing.
"It's called a brain-freeze, dummy. It happens when you drink something cold, really fast", replied Sam.
"Oh", said Tobias. "Guess I don't know much about this human body yet".
"Yes", said Sam. "In many ways yet. . ."
Sam and Tobias stared at each other, then broke out laughing.
They both finished their Frappuccino then left, exiting into the cold air. They were in there quite a long time, the sun had dissapered on the horizon. Sam and Tobias looked at each other awkwardly.
"I. . . Should be getting back. It's quite late", said Sam.
"Yeah. . .", sighed Tobias. "But, can we meet again?"
"Of course!", said Sam, almost immediately.
Tobias smiled.
"When's good for you?", asked Sam.
"Well. . . I'm free all the time", replied Tobias.
"So. . . How's tomorrow for you?", asked Sam.
"Good", said Tobias.
Sam waved goodbye to Tobias, and Tobias waved back.
Tobias kept thinking:
"Maybe I should of kissed him. . ."
He watched Sam walk off, eventually slipping into his house.
"Maybe next time", he thought. "I might take it further".
Tobias put his hands in his pockets and walked into the night.
