Chapter 1: Nightmares

"Damn you, stupid, stupid, stupid piece of crap!" I screamed at my alarm clock as I flung it out an open window. "I hope you get run over by a truck!"

I lived on the fourth floor of a nice apartment, so even if the alarm clock wouldn't have gotten run over, the drop would still do some hardcore damage. I silently cursed at the clock for not waking me up on time. However I cursed out loud when I saw the useless piece of metal crash into a nicer, obviously more useful piece of metal.

"Shit! You've got to be kidding me!" I fumed as I stuck my head out the window hoping my eyes and the morning light were playing tricks on me. But no, since the world hated me, it just had to be real. The hunk of cheap metal was lodged in a deep pit of a black car's hood. The car was no doubt a new Ferrari parked across from my apartment.

I'm screwed, I thought to myself. Slowly, the car door of the driver's seat drew open; the guy looked around my age with hair as black as the night. The guy closed the door slowly and stood in front of it with his hands on his hips, examining the car. When his gaze found its way to the hood, he paused, confused of how it had happened. However, realizing it didn't mattered how it happened, but the fact it did in fact happen, he threw his arms wildly in the air furiously and cursed. Deciding, I didn't want to get caught; I sneakily shut my window and closed the velvet grass green curtains. Before I actually sealed the curtains all the way, the guy whipped around, looked me straight in the eyes, and got a good look at my face with his just as black eyes. I mentally slapped myself and gulped down a heap of air as I got ready for school. I knew that kid; he was in several of my classes.

*~*~*

The walk to school was quite unpleasant: the whole time, I felt eyes burning through my white cotton shirt and into my back. I broke into a cold sweat, the sweat turning into ice, then melting again from the unusual heat of late autumn. Every few seconds I would turn my head to see no one in sight, only making me panic more.

Come on birthday girl, don't be scared. There is no way you're spending your birthday panicking! I scolded myself. The thought somehow squashed down my fright in the tiniest way. My hands that were previously clamped tightly around the strap of my black leather school bag, now loosened. My hands were throbbing a bit from that. Unsurprisingly, the strap was covered in frost. I watched the frost melt away into droplets of water falling down the strap. I tend to frost things around me if I'm nervous, under pressure or stressed. I shook my head, and then glanced at my watch. It was ten thirty, half through second period. Shaking off the terrified feeling, I dashed to the school.
