My eyes rested up to the sky, examining the dome like figure. Damon was right. The coven had performed a powerful spell that trapped everyone in town. It turned our day into night and created thunder and lighting. The wipers were on full speed and that still wasn't enough visibility Damon needed to drive.
"We need to come up with a plan. We can't just walk in there like 'hey give me back my vamp boyfriend and my vamp ex girl who I'm not dating but am still in love with'," Luna sat in the backseat looking like she might just pee her pants. I didn't ask either of them to come. Damon wants to act like he's coming because he wants to make sure nothing happens to me. But I know he just wants to come because he wants to save Isabelle. As for Luna, she's coming because being in that house with Jemmy would be a terrible idea. My parents have been on her and Damon's ass about confessing who the father of my baby is.
"The plan is we knock out anyone who gets in our way. They're willing to kill innocent people for absolutely no fucking reason. A vampire didn't kill Abia. They got her pregnant. That's not a crime. This vampire and witch rivalry is bullshit!" Damon slammed his hand onto the dashboard. The only thing he could think about was Isabelle. This treaty prevents them from being together and the stupid law prohibits Isabelle from being with Damon because he's a Hyland. These Ardon vampires have a hold on both our hearts.
"You may be okay with killing people but I'm not," Luna argued.
"Then leave. No one asked you to come," he snapped, taking both of us back. Damon usually isn't this aggressive. But things are really intense right now.
"He doesn't mean that. Let's just all calm down," I adjusted myself on my seat. Luna was right. We needed a plan, but none of us were familiar with the city hall let alone the tunnels. I shut my eyes in attempt to think. I couldn't think straight.
The car stopped and the three of us rushed to the doors of the building. Pulling the handles, the door struggled to open. It was locked. I blinked in disbelief when Damon yanked the handles of the door off. That requires immense strength that I didn't know he had. That's when I remembered. He'd spoken about killing Isabelle's boyfriend. Killing him triggered the werewolf curse. He's a werewolf.
All these questions came to mind about what it feels like. But I kept the questions to myself as we entered the building. The lights in here were off like no one occupied the space. But that seemed impossible.
"How do we know where it is?" I stared at the grand staircase before us. There were multiple halls upstairs as well as even more down here but we didn't have time to check every single door and hall.
"I think I know how. We went on a field trip once in the fifth grade. They showed us the door of a tunnel that was supposedly closed off," Luna spoke up and at this point she was our only hope. I held onto that small hope as we turned to the left and marched down different paths. She questioned herself, stopping in place to remember the direction. We were going off her fifth grade memory.
"This is impossible. We're wasting-" Damon quickly shut up when we stood before two men guarding a door. They were quiet, eying us down like if we stepped another foot, they wouldn't hesitate to hurt us.
"Turn around and walk away," one instructed, raising to his full height. Damon took in a deep breath, crackling his knuckles and neck.
His nails grew in length, becoming something that resembled claws. His eyes glowed gold while fangs grew in his mouth. My eyes widened when the two men did the same. Werewolves. I slowly backed as they approached us.
"Go. I'll hold them off," Damon did not take his eyes off the men. Loud growls filled the air they struck my brother, allowing Luna and I to pull the door open. It weighed heavy, requiring both our strength. What we entered was dark and as soon as we shut the door behind us there was whispering and distracting noises. They buzzed around my ear like annoying flies.
