Illuminations

Night has fallen, dark as the bright sun

Stars twinkling in the sky

Like jewels in an ominous endless chest

The moon shinning round as a bubble

People crowding, waiting under the sky

Whispering in excitement

Finally a signal awakes in a loud 'BANG'

Everyone looked up smiling after the long wait

The fireworks exploded into the starry night sky

They flew up in a squeal

It exploded in excitement like a bursting balloon

Finally disappearing into tiny colourful confetti

It painted the star filled sky

Like an artist splattering paint onto a canvas

Over and over again, as the paint filled the night sky

A work of art displayed on an endless canvas

It was a bullet shooting high into the night sky

Exploding in an array of bright colours

The fireworks burst brilliantly

Like the last embers of an dying star

Bursting, one after another

Into the deep night sky

The stars winked, the moon grinning from ear to ear

And the fireworks split in sanguine confetti
